  1. A Killarney Stag’s Portrait

We were lucky to spot this stag and a number of hinds as we entered Killarney National Park a few weeks ago. The light was terrible. It was just after sunrise and we were walking through a wood. I’m thrilled with this photo of a magnificent stag.

Here’s another photo of this stag.

  6. The Forest Guardian

Early Saturday morning a few weeks ago we gathered to photograph deer as the sun rose. Walking through the forest in Killarney National Park we spotted a group of deer. The light was terrible. I’m sure this was shot at ISO 12800 to get a crisp image and I’m really happy with it.

This group of deer stayed in the forest away from curious humans for the rest of the morning, though we could hear this stag bellowing several times off in the distance.

  7. Took a walk around a cloudy Ouse Fen this morning, and munching in the hedgerow was this Roe Deer. It seems to have a hat made of thistle 😂

  8. This one has Birds (Mallards) and a Deer in it. This Deer is a Male Sika Deer.

Sika deer are known for their expressive whistling calls, particularly during the autumn rut, their breeding season. Males can be territorial and engage in vocal and physical displays to attract females.

  9. Close encounter

This morning, I spotted a few wild black fallow #deer grazing under a small bank of trees in the forest near my home. Although I was hidden by the cover of the tree line, they could still sense my presence - ears twitching, staring in to the darkness to my location. One gave out a warning bark but had they realised I was human they would have bolted immediately.

As for everyone else, it is a steep learning curve on here for me. I marked my last post as sensitive content - which must have been so disappointing to anyone actually looking for sensitive content - because it definitely wasn't.
