  1. 'Welcome to Paradox City': A new book analyzes Dallas history through its architecture

"Dallas is always looking towards the new, towards what's next. It's sort of a part of its ambition to be great — but the flip side of that coin is that it doesn't take care of its things."

  2. Anyone in the #DFW area have recommendations for finding queer spaces outside of #Denton, #CedarSprings, #BishopArts, or #DeepEllum?

I have nothing against those areas, but I am hoping there is something, anything, closer to #FlowerMound that I can go. Denton is the closest but that is still easily a 20-30 minute drive without traffic and I would love to be able to get to places more often.

  3. Charley Crockett’s ‘Lonesome Drifter’ calls back to his Deep Ellum busking days 🎵⭐🎸

The former Dallasite’s 15th album is his first with a major record label.

Crockett is more of an “underground legend, somewhere between Larry McMurtry and Charles Bronson.”

  6. A "new" addition to Deep Ellum in Dallas, Texas.

It is called the Tree of Ténéré. It is the second version of a tree that was made for #burningman in 2017.

An information card close to it lists the following details about its construction:

    120 Branches
    840 Twigs
    12,600 Leaves
    75,600 LEDs
    22,046 lbs

  7. Fascinating glimpse of Dallas' past as influenced by New Orleanians in this article by UNT doctoral student @[email protected] in the Dallas Morning News

"How one family from New Orleans brought Creole culture and cuisine to Deep Ellum"

The Darensbourg brothers founded multiple bars and restaurants in the 1930s.

  8. I once lived in a loft in Deep Ellum, Dallas. It had previously been a loading dock for what was, as far as I know, a factory that made parts for cotton gins. I loved the galvanized crystal pattern on the roller door slats.
