Maysoon is a journalist, filmmaker, and human rights activist from Kurdistan-Iran who advocates for the resistance movement in Kurdistan and against violations of fundamental rights in Iran.
Forced to flee persecution by the Iranian regime.
She arrived in Italy on a small boat together with 77 other passengers and upon her arrival in Crotone, Calabria, she was accused of having helped the boat’s captain during the crossing, criminalized under anti-smuggling laws, and imprisoned for almost a year.

Maysoon ist Journalistin, Filmemacherin und Menschenrechtsaktivistin aus dem iranischen Kurdistan, die sich für die Widerstandsbewegung in Kurdistan und gegen Grundrechtsverletzungen im Iran einsetzt.
Sie war gezwungen, vor der Verfolgung durch das iranische Regime zu fliehen.
Zusammen mit 77 anderen Passagieren kam sie auf einem kleinen Boot in Italien an.
Bei ihrer Ankunft in Crotone, Kalabrien, wurde sie beschuldigt, dem Kapitän des Bootes während der Überfahrt geholfen zu haben, nach den Gesetzen zur Bekämpfung der Schleuserkriminalität unter Strafe gestellt und fast ein Jahr lang inhaftiert.

Here's a link that will help you write a letter opposing Ash Regan's hateful bill in the Scottish Parliament. Her bill intends to criminalise buying sex - a tactic that (1) only deters the very nicest clients (2) further stigmatizes and isolates sex workers from support services and legal protection and (3) is just another bit of oppressive prudery that's going to do real damage to good people. The bill is being considered on 15th January, so get out there and tell your MSPs to tell Ash Regan to keep her awful views to herself.

There is loads of really good research showing why the "Nordic model" hurts working people, and why decriminalisation is the best solution for the various problems people associate with sex work (violence, std's, exploitation...). If you have a problem with people selling sex, that's your prejudice. That's not a basis for a just society.

So I am hearing that on Monday, June 29th (yes, in ~3 days!) the Icelandic parliament (Alþingi) will vote on decriminalizing possession of recreational drugs for personal use.
Apparently chances of the vote succeeding are slim, but if enough attention is brought to this, including internationally, the conservative parties might crack under pressure.
Spread far and wide, contact your friendly journalists, let's make some noise.
