Almost two weeks ago, Americans took to the polls, racking up 76,429,164 votes for #Trump while #Harris received 73,736,923 (according to Wikipedia today).
Since there are about 245,000,000 eligible voters, that makes it about 94,833,913 voters did not vote - the majority of the voting population.
Running those numbers:
Trump - 31.2%
Harris - 30.1%That makes it 38.7% of the voting population did not vote. That's more than either candidate was able to attain.
Which begs the question - how many more people would have made the effort and how would the election have turned out, if there was one more option:

so, look, I have way too much scary shit unfolding slowly in my own life to keep up with the latest machinations of a bunch of liars & sociopaths, many of whom are also criminals.
so I’m curious to hear from anybody reading, why Harris seems to be stumbling at this point. a week ago I was under the impression that despite tight polling, she’s likely to win it by a bigger margin than expected, because the Silent Majority™ seem to be really exhausted with bullshit, and bullshit is Trump’s entire brand, whereas Harris still does that PMC-coded dance of spewing 100% bullshit but pretends she’s sincere and puts on a show of baseline dignified behavior. sort of like an Obama with approximately 0.2% of the charisma.
I had the sense people were ready to vote for a return to such normalcy, and today I’m less sure of that. curious to hear people’s thoughts. #Decision2024 #uspol

Ok, I realize this may be a very naive view of the 2024 US Presidential Election, but how is it that the pollsters and news people reporting it think their information adds any value whatsoever?
To even start to compare candidates' platforms, don't they at least need to appear to be on a somewhat level playing field?
Let's start with the ultra-basic 'competent, capable and trustworthy' parameters.
Well, that leaves just one candidate ... doesn't it!?

@skykiss Speaking of a good video to put in a nationwide Democratic ad.
Why did this not go places when it came out? This should give even devoted Trump voters some kind of pause.
Remember when a video like this ended Romney’s presidential race? 47% he said.

Political campaigns are won by the ground covered in the summer months.
Now is the time to ask an important question: Do you know the Dem precinct captain in your precinct?
Email your local Dem county/city committee to find out and offer to help them knock on doors in your neighborhood.
If there isn’t one, offer to volunteer and help your precinct get organized.
Democrats win elections with precinct-level organizing action. Start with your neighborhood first.

Fun fact: #CarterCountyOK election secretary Diane Hall tells me this is the first time in her 16 years on the job she's seen a Libertarian Party primary ballot.
