We finally got round to watching #deathofaunicorn last night. Sure there was some fairly saccharine writing and shonky #cgi but we still found it a very funny creature feature with loads of Easter eggs and nods to classic horror tropes. Considering it's budget I think it understood the assignment and executed it well.

Movie Review 11: Death of a Unicorn (2025)
Amusing and funny. The unicorns are cute, the characters are mostly ass holes, and everyone gets their just desserts.
The dog was pointy.
5/10

Hoy me he visto #DeathOfAUnicorn.

The unicorn, both fabulous animal and spreadsheet phantom, becomes a dialectical figure: it embodies capitalism’s capacity to conjure value ex nihilo while simultaneously disclosing the corporeal ruin that makes such conjuring possible. #DeathOfAUnicorn https://boxd.it/aS6po1
-
By collapsing the gap between mythical beast and billion-dollar startup, #AlexScharfman offers a bleakly comic but urgently political parable about a system that will, given the chance, monetize even the last flicker of wonder in the world—right up to (and including) the moment of its extinction. #DeathOfAUnicorn https://boxd.it/aS6po1

Death of a Unicorn is allegorical, and the unicorn is the money, shelter, etc. any one person might need to live life comfortably.

Death of a Unicorn is silly, campy, fantasy, terror. Yeah.
Death of a Unicorn is funny. Put a bunch of great actors in a fantasy about running into a real live unicorn, give them a ridiculous plot about the perils of capitalism, and let them play. That’s what happens here.

#DeathOfAUnicorn by #A24 was a fun romp. I highly recommend it if you like campy horror movies. I liked the unicorn design and especially liked the numerous echoes with themes from Jurassic Park.
Even though the movie is pretty predictable, it was still entertaining and worth a watch. I can't say too much else without big spoilers. For the record, I have been #TeamUnicorn all the way.

I think #DeathOfAUnicorn is such a pretty movie. I love the modern fairy tale mood of it. 🦄
-
Death of a Unicorn wasn't a great movie, but it was a fun one, with a great cast, humor, monsters, and kills even if the writing and story were pretty shallow. For better or worse, it's the kind of movie that I think represents A24 nowadays as it becomes a mini-major, and one that I think is gonna get rediscovered as a hidden gem in a few years.

Just saw #DeathOfAUnicorn.
It is a movie we went into with the expectation of Richard E. Grant revisiting Darwin Mayflower from Hudson Hawk. We were not disappointed, but we got so much more. It is a very fun romp, full of heavy-handed satire - and it works. And it works really well.
Lots of bloody violent deaths, lots of historical references (and some very specific made up ones), and some fantastic humour.
Paul Rudd and Jenny Ortega are having a ball, but the real prize in this is Anthony Carrigan as the magnificently understated manservant Griff.
9/10 and Alien meets Charlie Chaplin on the Sid and Nancy scale.

Death of a Unicorn 2025 Review

Just saw The Woman In The Yard and am now sitting in the theater waiting for Death Of A Unicorn to start. Hopefully this one will be better than the last which I get what it was going for, but I found it to be a touch boring and approached its subject matter only on the surface level. I'm no stranger to grief, but this just didn't connect with me at all.

I thought I was going to see #AMinecraftMovie with my child this weekend. But no, they are going out to see it friends. So, during the time I had scheduled to watched it I saw #DeathOfAUnicorn all by myself. Am I allowed to see movies all by myself? Isn't that a little creepy? I mean, I'm no Pee-wee Herman.

By far, the best gory unicorn movie of March.
Stagnant scenes of dialogue peppered with graphic scenes of Uni-carnage. But has a QR code you can scan for unicorn recipes.
