What’s one thing you wish every video producer or content creator knew about closed captions (or Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing)?

After a long week of work, tried to the movies with my family in a nearby town to see Lilo and Stitch. They had capitviewer (closed captioned devices) . But the captions just kept displaying classic movie quotes while the movie was playing. Got a refund and movie passes. Might as well stick with my local theater from here on.Heh, Deaf life.

Does anyone know any better/less stereotyping ones?
I know that the Deaf community is usually super on top of making signs less problematic, removing racist and other connotations, so I’m pretty certain someone has come up with something better than implying autistic people are closed off. :)

ETA once more: I just came across a BSL video and the person used the same COLORFUL BRAIN sign so maybe that's where it's been borrowed from in ASL.

I’m currently learning ASL and consequently loads about Deaf culture. And in the past, I worked with lots of blind folks (in a social enterprise focused on giving sighted people the experience of what it’s like to be blind) and am still friends with a few of them.
With my insight, albeit limited, into both of these disabilities, I am getting the feeling that Deaf culture is much more pronounced than Blind culture. With my blind friends I mostly noticed it in their sense of humour. Meanwhile, Deaf culture seems to encompass so much more. I wonder whether that is because the language is different. Braille is a stand-in for our usual alphabet, so blind folks interact with language very similarly to sighted hearing folks. Whereas sign languages are much more concept-driven languages. My brain thinks differently when I’m trying to sign! So it stands to reason that this would influence culture too.
These are very fresh unfiltered thoughts. Curious if anyone has some insight/input.

Sounds great! There are several #kdrama shows that focus on #DeafCulture and which use signing. Koseal sign language is obviously different from #ASL but shares a lot of common characteristics. -

Ìm out cruising in my scooter. A man stop his car to ask me a question. I drove over to him and got my phone out and open my voice to text app to read what he was saying. I told him to speak louder because I'm deaf. I knew he wanted directions. All I read was "im sorry." #nf2 #deafculture
