Hab heute „aus Gaudi“ mal wieder Instagram geöffnet und bin einfach nur erschreckt. Der Sog ist real, obwohl der Content zu 80 % aus absolutem Müll besteht. Zwischen den ein, zwei lustigen Reels von Kumpels lauert nur noch KI-Slop, Bots und blanker Hass – von Selbstverletzung bis zu KI-generiertem Scheiß ist alles dabei. Es ist irre, wie man sich davon trotzdem in den Bann ziehen lassen kann. Wenn die Plattformen nicht aufpassen, schaffen sie sich durch diesen Schrott selbst ab.
Habt ihr den Absprung schon voll geschafft oder schaut ihr auch noch manchmal fassungslos in diesen Abgrund?

I still see new signups to Threads, but literally 90% of the accounts are DEAD.
There's a plethora of AI generated posts, personas as well as general fear mongering about stuff that's clearly stupid, and not true.
The Epstein Files and general conspiracy theory batshit is the stuff that's most prominent over there, if I am to ignore the AI generated women that are clearly looking for sexual attention.

As predicted: Digg.com is already dead. Felt anyway like a tech bro thing amplified by their peers and totally disconnected from reality.
Turned out the dead internet killed it. Everything is full of fake traction. Maybe thats why Mastodon is a nice place because real (and grumpy) people are interacting here.

In a world where videos like this can be generated like this in seconds its important to say where you got them from if you still have the source please post it, and if you don't then from now on record the source at the same time as the video, maybe you could record it in the files metadata
I also understand there is sometimes conflicting reasoning to keep the source anonymous but at least in this case it appears to have been taken legally
So if you or someone you trust took it please clarify

Why does the capacity for moral reasoning and principled action confer rights for you? Because then they might be able to defend your rights? If so then once again everything comes back to other people only mattering because they can profit you.
As a technical point I can actually prove I am human I keep up to date with state of the art image generators and I happen to know that an image drawing of an analogue clock displaying a time of your choosing, plus some text of your choosing I can draw with a mouse would be too much for an AI to generate. Individually these are difficult for AI to do together its virtually impossible

I'm not answering the question because its a setup to either a non-sequitur or a genetic fallacy. The veracity of my argument has no bearing on anything I do or don't personally do.

I was thinking lady night that there are almost two internets forming. The corporate consolidated AI one that is the focus of the #deadinternet theory. And the federated one. Which seeks to break out the jails we've found ourselves trapped in. Our more simply: the ones who are controlled by money and the ones that no longer want to be.

AI slop hurts your soul.
It makes you: distrustful, dismissive of creative works, uncreative, derivative, imaginatively stunted, unreflective, dependant, it robs you of the satisfaction and growth granted by the creative process and it poisons you with all the same cultural biases taken from the training data.
AI robs people of imagination and the drive to create and instead produces output that is pastiche on steroid, uninspired unchallenging slop, every little detail crafted without personality or opinion with nothing to say except "this might vaguely remind you of something good that already existed"
I am also particularly concerned about the rise of chatbots pretending to be humans for political purposes.

I commute every day by #bicycle and I decided to buy a new #bike.
In the past I would have gone online and read some #reviews and comparisons and made a choice. Now that is nearly impossible, because so many of the "reviews" are #AI #LLM #slop summaries of, I dunno, forum posts about a completely different bike or something.
Instead I have e-mailed a list of my requirements to my #local #bikeshop and asked them what's available. Should have done that first.
