I am a bit surprised that Censys did not join the party to track DDoSia until mid 2025, but I am glad they started to do so nonetheless. What I am missing is, what of the 3-layered architecture the authors are tracking.

Prokremlowska grupa wznowiła ataki DDoS w niecały tydzień po aresztowaniu dwóch jej członków i przejęciu części infrastruktury przez organy ścigania. Tymczasem Recorded Future opublikowała obszerny raport poświęcony projektowi DDoSia, który haktywiści rozwijali w ostatnich latach. Warto sięgnąć, jeśli kogoś ta tematyka interesuje.

Chatted with some admin friends yesterday and they also confirmed that #Anthropic 's #Claudebot is that AI Crawler which hammers their sites most aggressive. They put on 2-3 times more load that the scraper of #OpenAI for example.
I am asking myself if the bastards over there at Anthropic are simply evil and dont care about the load on other peoples infrastructure or if they are simply brain dead idiots which are not able to write a more efficient crawler.
Nevertheless if you already steal intellectual property to make money, do it in a way which does not harm the environment by putting more load on other people systems as needed.

Ich kümmer mich ja in meiner Freizeit um die Technik hinter Kodinerds.net und habe die letzten zwei Tage mal einen kleinen Versuch gemacht wieviel Last KI Scraper auf unseren Systemen verursachen. Unser Forum ist jetzt nicht so groß und erzeugt keine ungeheure Last.
Also einfach mal eben schnell #Beszel auf den Server geworfen (danke noch mal für den Tipp dazu aus dem Fediverse) und ab Montag 12 Uhr aufzeichnen.
Zu diesem Zeitpunkt hatte ich noch eine einfach Filterung drin. Nginx filtert alle "gutmütigen" Crawler weg die sich über Ihren Useragent erkennen lassen.
Dienstag 12 Uhr habe ich diesen Schutz abgeschaltet.
Man kann recht deutlich sehen das dies dazu führt das zwischen 20-22 Uhr doppelt soviel CPU Last erzeugt und Bandbreite genutzt wurde.
Die Anzahl der Besucher und View (mit Umami erfasst) sind fast identischl
Das ist noch weit vom DDoS entfernt, aber das populärere Projekte damit Probleme habe kann ich gut nachvollziehen.
Mal schauen ob ich Anubis davorschalte, nicht weil es nötig wäre sondern um diesen KI Buden den Spass zu verderben.
