How long until MS sues Proton for fellony contempt of business model?

Youtube still helps copyright abusers massively.
No, not the ones who upload like 5s song fragments or even NO SONG AT ALL, but those who claim "DMCA TAKEDOWN!" for certain songs even if there is no music AT ALL in that video.
Yes, no music at all. Let that sink in.
As a video uploader you have no chance to counter the claim but as claiming party, you do not have to prove anything! Just say "copyright infringement" and boom - all the money that was made with that poor uploader's video goes to you instead.
It is a scandal, seriously. And this bXllshXt is known for AGES. And no one cares. One more reason to go away from YT - but easier said then done, if you wanna make a living from your videos. Like Music Mongoose, an ex BBC music journalist, an excellent one btw.
He explains it in detail:

The owner of OnlyFans, Fenix International Limited sent a DCMA takedown notice to GitHub, insisting they remove several projects that aimed to reverse engineer the popular Widevine DRM that is used in many media platforms.
There are a couple curiosities in this case though, such as Fenix providing specific personal details of contributors, and some over-reaching responses when GitHub reached out to them for clarification on what aspects were infringing.

Another day, another fraudulent DCMA pre-compliance copyright strike against one of my youtube videos using public domain music.
Sigh.

This is the straw that broke the camel’s back.
If #Apple is going to be a totally shitty company among others, I can choose a cheaper shitty company from now on.
And it seems like #EU is on to something when the “privacy” and “integrity” Apple company can’t follow privacy laws here without go on a bullshit rant. https://www.theverge.com/2024/6/21/24183251/apple-eu-delay-ai-screen-mirroring-shareplay-dma

Recall does not record DRMed material because it is encrypted.
Recall does record Signal and Threema even though it is encrypted.I wonder if @signalapp and @threemaapp can sue #MicroSoft for breach of #DCMA or other applicable laws?

New Japan Pro wrestling uploaded the video of a full match with Mercedes Mone to its own YouTube channel ,then 4 months latter, sent a DCMA to itself, about its own channel for its own match.
The video is now restored, and the original tweet regarding the situation has been deleted. However, it did give me a chuckle

😠 Finding #porn you've created on a pirate download site
🤬 ... Which charges users to access content *you* self-funded and haven't made back costs on yet
😒 ... Where the downloads are hosted by a third party in a country that doesn't care about #DCMA compliance
😵💫 ... Only when you look into it the downloads are allegedly #malware and the site is just using your preview pics and copy for some reason??? But you can't verify this because... malware

@alexbayleaf In my experience, most of the picture pirates on Mastodon have links to some sort of payment system (paypal, kofi), though that is sometimes obscured via linktree. I'm really surprised at how many of the people I follow get sucked into boosting these people. If I see a great post that uses somebody else's photograph it doesn't even get a like. Wish people just used links to original images ... it's easy. #dcma #copyright #photography

There are 17,695 known #Mastodon instances. Fairly sure one of those admins won't have got their #DCMA, #GDPR, and #DSA registrations sorted out. Nobody would sue an instance admin? Sure, have you met "The Mouse"..? The Mouse sure would. https://www.wired.com/story/mastodon-legal-issues-tipping-point/

https://torrentfreak.com/metadata-ruling-gives-youtube-timely-boost-in-content-id-lawsuit-220826/
If you are a regular user, stripping DRM is a DMCA violation, punishable by fines and even prison time, but if you are a major corporation exploiting artists, apparently it's fine.
