Shabbat Shalom Friends 🕯️🕯️
This marks the 50th Shabbat in a row that I have shared your beautiful photos and messages in response to my weekly greeting. Fifty weeks. What began as a simple post has become one of my favorite traditions, and that is entirely because of you.
And this one arrives with something special. We have entered Elul, the final month of the Hebrew year, the quiet stretch of reflection before everything begins again. A month made for exactly what you already do here every week. Pausing. Looking inward. Reaching toward each other.
Reading your comments has become one of my favorite ways to welcome Shabbat. If I ever miss responding it is never intentional, sometimes comments get hidden, but I always feel the spirit behind them 💙
You give me the gift of sharing my passion for teaching Hebrew and for community.
Wishing you a peaceful and meaningful Shabbat, and a beautiful start to Elul.
Shabbat Shalom 💙

This marks the 49th Shabbat in a row that I’ve had the privilege of sharing your beautiful photos and messages in response to my weekly Shabbat greeting. What began as a simple post has grown into something far more meaningful than I ever imagined.
And here is what moves me most about it. Not everyone in this community observes Shabbat. Some of you light candles every Friday night as your family has for generations. Some of you come from a different faith entirely. Some of you are simply here for the language, or the culture, or because something in this corner of the internet feels like a good place to land at the end of a long week. And every single one of you belongs here.
Week after week, you bring light, warmth, and connection into this space. Seeing the images you share, whether candles, tables, family moments, or quiet reflections, has turned this into a truly special tradition for our community.

Today is entirely a day of rest. No cooking (I have plenty of leftovers), no cleaning, and hopefully no stressing.
I needed a mental health day.

Rest is one of the least practiced spiritual disciplines and perhaps one of the most important. By failing to rest, are we not failing to keep one of the 10 Commandments?

Let’s settle this once and for all: why do #queer #people #love #Eurovision so much?
Anyone who has ever met a single #queer #person knows that for LGBTQ+ people, Eurovision night is a #national #holiday, a #dayofrest followed by an #evening of #celebration. #GayChristmas, if you will. But why is that?

Shabbat, the day of rest in Jewish tradition, offers a unique opportunity to pause, reflect, and rejuvenate. Whether you find solace in the tranquility of your home or the serenity of nature, Shabbat is a time to reconnect with yourself and your surroundings in a meaningful way.
Indoors, Shabbat can be a haven of peace. It's a chance to step away from the week's hustle and immerse in tranquility.

#DayOfRest #ListeningToYourBody #Sick #NotCovid
Both my wife and I are sick wth a tight cough, sore throat; she has sinus issues. Two negative covid tests each, so yay.
We think its stress relief related, we were 110% for the last week with daughters wedding, got through it, and we were exhausted!
I put away 4 tons of wood pellets, a ton a day (50 bags) but procrastinated long enough yesterday the rain began. I had two naps instead. Mugs of hot tea. Eating lightly. Listening to my body. Wedding photos for attention.

In respect to Silent Sunday, I won’t be posting or boosting any of the horrific news stories I just spent the morning reading (ack)…Suffice to say that all is not well in the world — but you already knew that.
Rest up, recharge, do what makes you smile today. The problems humanity is facing will still be here tomorrow. #SilentSunday #DayofRest

I spent the day with the hubby watching the #Netflix movie “From Scratch.” It was great but a tear jerker all the way. Today I took a break from my normal posting for a day of much needed rest. #blackmastodon #resting #dayofrest #moviereview #movie
