‚At the annual “Day of Honour” in Budapest, thousands of neo-Nazis once again took part in an “escape march”. One counter-protest was able to take place, while another, including a press conference, was stifled by the police.
On Saturday, several thousand European right-wing extremists once again marched 60 kilometres for the “Day of Honour” from Buda Castle in the Hungarian capital to the village of Szomor.
It is the highlight of the international neo-Nazi gathering initiated in Budapest in 1997 by the “Hungarian National Front”. This “escape march” commemorates the fallen soldiers of the Hungarian fascist Arrow Cross militia who fled the capital in 1945 ahead of the Red Army….‘

For the non-German speakers: this is a short video from the father of Maja T., the German antifascist who was surreptitiously and illegally extradited to Hungary last year in the middle of the night to face charges related to altercations with Nazis during the 2023 "Day of Honor" in Budapest.
Maja has been on hunger strike since June 5, and today Maja is being brought to a hospital due to severely deteriorating health. The hunger strike was already a response to inhumane prison conditions -- total isolation from other prisoners, 1 hour a day of time "outside" (alone in an open-air, concrete-walled yard), extreme temperatures, cockroaches and bedbugs, sub-standard food -- so it's not like Maja was in ideal health when this started.
Now Maja's father is walking to Berlin (I assume from his home in Jena) as a kind of protest. He is, obviously, very concerned for his kid. I've exchanged several letters back and forth with Maja and am also very concerned about the health and the very life of someone I consider a friend.
This situation has reached a critical stage. If you're anywhere within reach of a Hungarian (or even a German) embassy or consulate, if you've thought about solidarity actions or anything that might call attention to Maja's case, now is the time. (Yeah, I'm aware that these things tend not to be particularly persuasive of fashy governments like Hungary's. Feel free to get creative.)

In the course of the "Day of Honor" Nazifest in Budapest in February 2023, the Hungarian government either arrested or subsequently issued international arrest warrants for a number of people who it says engaged in violence against the event's participants. Several of those people are currently either in custody of Órban's authoritarian state or pending extradition there.
There hasn't been a whole lot of detailed coverage of this stuff in English, so I recently interviewed a member of the Budapest Antifascist Solidarity Committee (BASC) in the hope of getting the word out a bit more widely and clarifying just what happened in Budapest and what has been going on since those events. The good people of @antidotezine were then kind enough to publish that interview today, on the one-year anniversary of Maja's arrest. If you've seen some of the hashtags below and didn't really have the context, this may well clear up a lot of questions.
