Progress implies time, does it not? I am this today, and I shall be something better tomorrow. That is, in self-improvement or self-denial or self-abnegation, there is progression, the gradualism of moving towards a better life, which means superficially adjusting to our environment, conforming to an improved pattern, being conditioned in a nobler way, and so on. We see that process taking place all the time. You may have wondered whether progress brings about a fundamental revolution. To me, the important thing is not progress but revolution. Please don’t be horrified by the word ‘revolution’, as most people in a progressive society are, but it seems to me that unless we understand the extraordinary necessity of bringing about not just a social amelioration but a radical change in our outlook, mere progress is progress in sorrow; it may effect the pacification or the calming of sorrow, but not the cessation of sorrow, which is always latent. After all, progress in the sense of getting better over a period of time is really the process of the self, the ‘me’, the ego.

Been a busy December, translating into a lot of quick photos this year. Nice dram tonight for a blend, Wemyss Malt's "A Quarter Passed", a 25 year old at 53.6% ABV. Lemon, apple, and berries on the nose; lemon, herbs, honey, toffee, cinnamon, and ginger on the palate; nice spicy finish with some faint oak. Tiny bit sweet, but well-rounded and tasty.

¿Qué relación hay entre lo que cuesta un piso y si tienes perro o niño? 🤔 Graficamos Esfuerzo Inmobiliario (años de renta para 75m²) vs Ratio Mascotas/Niño (<16) por distrito (2015-22).

¡Resulta que la correlación es positiva y fuerte (r≈0.75)! Donde más cuesta la vivienda, tiende a haber más mascotas por cada niño. ¿La cruda realidad del ladrillo cambiando el modelo familiar? ¿"No me llega pa pañales, pero sí pa pienso"? 🤷‍♂️🐶🐱📈💸

Day 18 is my annual calendar signing night, apparently. The year before I started this whole whisky Advent calendar project, I began putting together photo calendars for my Scout camp's alumni association from my photography at the camp. I do all the work, sign and number the series, cover the printing, shipping, and credit card handling costs, and donate 100% of the price to the association.

Well, romcom/romance is overwhelmingly what K-drama churns out so that's my most consistent watch. Some romances are definitely FAR better than others!
I watched a lot of historicals early in the year but overdid it with 3-4 that I watched at the same time!
Some of the shows I enjoyed the most this year were action/suspense/thriller. They are so captivating to watch when done well!

„Super floppy“ formats were hip in the 90s.The most successful of them was the Zip drive. Developed by Iomega in 1994, they were slightly larger than 3.5“ floppies. Due to a good cost/volume ratio, they were very popular for about 8 yrs, during which they went through 12 diff releases of size(100/250/750MB)/interface (ATAPI,SCSI,LPT,USB,FireWire) combinations. Life was wild back then!
