Happy Birthday ... a great figure who helped us all understand the beauty, power and wisdom of our planet and all life on it. My Indigenous parents who were born and raised on the land enjoyed watching his programs (as did I and I still do) and to just see and know about the great variety of life on this planet.

Remembering the times when I shook his hand at at a book signing. And the time, back in 2008, when I encouraged my children to bunk off school for the afternoon, get on the bus into Oxford and to meet me in the queue in a bookshop so that they could meet him at a book signing.
He is, perhaps, the world's greatest educator.
