If you've ever complained about the #fediDating hashtag being kinda lackluster, now is your time. You should totally check out this post and go try to use the #Datestodon tag with the proper code.

I'm really excited by this, because I think it has the opportunity to maybe really work.

Even if you're not looking for anything serious, but just wanna do it for fun, you totally should. Dating and match-making doesn't have to be this super serious thing, it can just be a fun little way to make some friends. And hey, maybe you get lucky and you actually end up being compatible with one of the people you meet.

@oblomov I liked that #Datestodon was in line with Mosstodon, Fosstodon, etc., and that it was something folx would be more likely to ask about. I'd still include #FediDating and/or #Dating hashtags at the end of the post, until more folx get onboarded though.

@alice my only suggestion would be that I'd prefer the use of #fediDating or somesuch rather than #Datestodon

I could see a simple browser plugin being developed that makes a Fedi tab for posts & profiles that would be in your dating pool.

In the meantime, following #Datestodon along with the few hashtags that include you (that you're interested in) should do.

I also don't mind the federation issue with hashtags, as it means your search results are semi-filtered by who you follow and who are on your local server.
