If the environmental impact of #AI was acceptable or good, the companies pushing these products would use it for PR purposes. The fact they don't strongly indicates that what we hear from communities near their #datacenters is accurate: AI is destructive to our environments at a scale embarrassing to these companies.

This isn't just about rising power costs any more. It's about siphoning power and water supplies that support residential neighborhoods to feed the data monstrosities in the vicinity (fact, not theory.) The data center overlords are getting more brazen, and something is going to give.
