  1. One of my all-time favorite dashboards is the 1970’s #CitroënCX, especially in this automatic version. Note the lighted shifter position indication, even though the shifter is on the floor, not next to the steering column.

The speedometer and rev counter were both floating, and changed color as the reading increased.

No stalk controls are present. Everything is switched within easy reach.

Admittedly I already drank my coffee this morning. Congrats to @Mark for keeping this ship afloat! There's great people here and I'm excited to be part of the community. ❤️

Up is my Mazdaspeed3. I remember the first time I ever sat in one if these: it was brand new on a dealer lot and we were looking at 5s. I sat in one as a half-joke, and wanted it immediately. Mine still has the heat-warped cover on the gauge pod as I never made it to the dealer during the recall.

  3. I'm not sure what year this T-bird is, but I would love to drink coffee in this cockpit. #DashboardsAndCoffee

For the 6 month anniversary of the #WeirdAuto instance, and my migration from The Bird S(h)ite™, here are some of my dashboard photos.

First up, 1994 Chevrolet K1500 Silverado. The interesting thing here are the remote radio controls, and the graphic equalizer. The power seat controls are also quite something to behold, if I can find a pic of those.

Sadly, these seem to be the best ones I have for now (the truck is working today).

  5. The dash of my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. The tire pressure light has been on for a decade but overall I like the layout. #DashboardsAndCoffee

  6. I don't know why this '56 Ford Station Wagon dash makes me feel like eating Mint Chip ice-cream - but it does. #DashboardsAndCoffee

  7. I'm still trying to find my favourite dash pic, but I did find some special ones. Here's a Plymouth Police Interceptor from the '50s.. #DashboardsAndCoffee

  8. Happy #HalfBirthday to all the #WeirdAutos bunch and everyone in #WeirdCarMastodon !

For today's #DashboardsAndCoffee I offer up my very own i3, and two other vehicles that some may consider cheating but who cares.

The i3 has held up quite well, surprisingly for a RWD in Canadian winter.

The other two are: my 2003 BMW K1200GT summer ride, and my 1974 Honda CB550 which I hope to restore someday. Cheers to all!

  9. Happy half birthday to #WeirdAutos :wa: also happy unofficial birthday to #WeirdCarMastodon. I’m taking this picture from and actual cars and coffee.

Let’s recognize @dan, our first member, who signed up before I realized the server was up. Also someone claims to have tooted #WeirdCarMastodon a good month before I joined. Was it @wheeljack? I can’t recall.

  10. I can’t get out today to take some cute pictures of Swedish Dashboards (I called that band name), but I snuck away to post some old shots of the 240’s dash restoration .

  11. To the Weird.Autos community,
Congrats on reaching six months! Let's hope for a real Cars & Coffee event in the future, but until then, keep sharing your love for the weird and wonderful world of cars.
Cheers to another six months and beyond!

  12. My fifth and final dashboard is the Haflinger. Look at its minimal simplicity! A little plate explaining its gear and drive modes. That's all you need.

here are 4 of my favourite dashboard from cars I’ve owned over the years.

1 Triumph Herald, like my mum’s car that was handed down to me to learn to drive in. As a kid I’d sit in the car in the garage dreaming about hitting the open road for hours on end.

Then there are two very different digital dashboards from the ‘80s.

    2 analog Citroen BX and

    3 Astra GTE 16v.

    & my Fave
4 Tonka-toy-like Iveco Daily van dash from about 2000.

  14. My fourth dashboard is my 1959 VW Beetle. A minimalist form right now as the car undergoes a full restoration. I do love its sheet metal simplicity. The hole is for one gauge - speedo. Couple of switches, and that's it. We will fit a fuel gauge as well because well duh. And a period radio awaits installation. And of course a flower vase. No screens. Just drive.

  15. My third dashboard is more of a minimalist (and programmable) one, in my VW Golf MK1 race car. Because weight reduction! Mind you, no full dash means no air con/heating and it fogs up pretty fast at Phillip Island on a cold race car. So the car has a heated windshield, from the UK.

  16. My next dashboard is my VW Golf Mk1 dash. This one has been recovered as it too was made from flimsy materials that do not like being baked in Australian sun and fell apart long time ago.

This is my favourite part, the giant clock. Diesel Golfs got clocks. I find knowing the time when driving places more useful. No longer a diesel, now a 16V petrol engine.

  17. For @Mark and #WeirdCarMastodon's six month anniversary, I have some dashboards!

My first is this crumpled and cracked seventies something-akin-to-cardboard but not dashboard in my 1979 VW Passat. They never stood up to the Australian sun, so cracked is pretty standard fare by now. It's so wide and has a glove box you need to be an octopus to reach from the driver's seat.

Buttons and gauges. Simple and effective.

  18. Don’t forget, Sunday the seventh is #DashboardsAndCoffee for our half birthday. You can post your dashboard or your favorite dashboard. I encourage people to get a coffee and take a picture of your dashboard with the coffee in view.

  19. @Mark
    A quick thought about #DashboardsAndCoffee:

Not sure if this was the idea all along, but we should all post POV pics of us sitting in our cars, looking out the windshield with the dashboard and coffee visible in the frame. Gives it a community feel I think.

(Pic attached as example) (and for those in the know, no, I didn’t drive for a good while after this pic was taken)

  20. What day are we celebrating #DashboardsAndCoffee? Monday is the official half birthday, but sunday is the best day for #carsandcoffee
