Do you darn your socks? I'd thought it was a thing done in centuries past. But I heard a modern person mention it like it was a normal thing to do. (To be fair, I've only heard a modern person say this *once*.)
I do have a problem with socks getting holes in the heels before they're otherwise used up. Should I be darning them? How?

I got myself a speedweve #darning loom! I probably could have chosen an easier #mending project than a delicate cashmere blend scarf to try it out on but I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. I still need to work on making neater edges but that’s just practice. #VisibleMending

Today I learned how to do Swiss darning (aka duplicate stitch) on a thinning sock heel.
Pros:
+ Relaxing to work
+ Opportunity to use the World's Most Beautiful Darning Egg (pictured)
+ Invisible with matching yarnCons:
- Slower than standard darning
- For thinning not holey socks
- Invisible with matching yarn - which makes it harder to tell where you're up to!Overall, a method I'd happily use again. I just need to monitor the state of my sock heels a bit more closely.

Mildly interesting: my socks always fail on the big toe on the right foot (which is a size larger than the left one).

Went to the local outdoor shop to buy the stuff and they said I should try darning it first. The glued patch would rub right off again like @glowl said. I’ll try and when the daring failed I’ll sew a patch on.
