  1. Just tinkering as I sometimes do with my #KDE #Desktop. I know there has been the ability to switch from a #LightTheme to a #DarkTheme depending on the time (say day time and night time) and so I’m going to give that a try and see whether I like it. Interestingly, the theme changes half an hour after the local #Sunset and half an hour before the local #Sunrise, which corresponds to the definition of civilian day time and civilian night time.

  2. Update for Sassy dark mode no-pe.netlify.app/dark-mode/

    Now with #DartSass.

Short version: I want light/dark themes that are backwards compatible. With Dart Sass, we create two maps, one for light and one for dark colors. Then, we use them in a `mixin` for all our color information. Finally, we include it twice: once as the default and once behind the media query.

New glowing theme switcher button at the top nav bar! (It was previously in the footer.)

And the icon changes depending on which theme you're on. CSS only :)

  4. RE: oldbytes.space/@amoroso/115502

The light theme seems more popular than I expected. I use the light theme too but, when cataract came knocking last year, I learned the hard way the importance of the dark theme.

  5. What theme do you use on the majority of your desktop and mobile devices?

  6. Do you know the saying, “Don’t tug on a string or an abyss will unravel you”? What do you mean, that’s incorrect? Whatever.

I saw that #WezTerm can detect the #DarkMode/#LightMode, so I decided that I want to have a #DarkTheme and a #LightTheme too. And I made my own. Of course, I made my own! No, I don’t like it. Maybe never will.

  7. Ooh #Monokai pro has an official light theme now. I really like Monokai and bought the license so I can use it everywhere I use #VSCode, and sometimes I just want to use a light theme. Fight me.

  8. For years, I've been in the light-theme camp (except for the terminal, of course) and never understood the hype around dark themes. But pink eye (conjunctivitis) changed my mind. Now, to all those sites and apps without dark mode — I'm looking at you and literally crying. 😢

  9. Yes, I use a for most of the time.

What hurts is having a painful mixture of light and dark, or sudden shifts between the two; e.g. light theme in a very dark room, dark theme in a light room, or alt/cmd-tabbing between light & dark screens.

In the day I work in a well-lit room with light-coloured walls, and almost all apps have a light theme, so light is generally best for me.

Dark theme is for late-night coding lit by just a table lamp.

  10. So after using a for a while on my desktop and now also on my workstation i am curious, are there any reasonable articles about what is best for longterm use?

  11. Buenos dias gente. Os recuerdo que si aún no habéis votado en la encuesta sobre que preferís si el #darktheme o el #lighttheme , sigue abierta. Se agradece la participación.
