What a nice coincidence that we arrive to #Spooky Season (nearly) at the exact same time in both our VODs as well as IRL! Today's VOD is another entry in the Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes!

These have always been fun little campfire ghost story point & click adventure games. Nothing too difficult, nothing too horrifying, and all really nicely polished into a fun short story. It's a shame we seem to have lost the original entry into the series, but at least we get to see a few of the later entries!

Really quick, before we make too much progress impersonating Raven, we gotta take a detour through Spooktober, starting with the second entry in the Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope!

No, you're not missing anything, we did in fact play the first game in the series, Man of Madan. Those VODs were unfortunately lost in the great time before archiving everything. This series has been quite a fun campfire ghost stories bit of fun every October, and they keep improving every entry that releases.

After finishing the second co-op playthrough of The Devil in Me, with the lovely @Nio, I've now started a solo play of the game.

When I had a printer, I would print out the trophy 🏆 guides, I would make notes and all that, and I'd go for the 💯.

The first two Dark Pictures games I got to 100%, the third I got to 73%, and this one (the fourth), I am at 20%.

I hope that I can get some progress in today... Maybe not get some actual trophies yet, but I can hopefully start the gathering of some needed things... 😊

I hope that @altbot 🤖 can make some lovely texts, and then I'll edit them into this Toot!

Catch ya later! :blahaj_gamer:

Edit: for some reason, @altbot didn't give me a reply with the texts, so I've tried making them with Bing instead.

Just finished The Dark Pictures Anthology Man of Medan. I saw it on streams before, so I knew the plot twist, but still wanted to play it myself.
Everyone survived, too! That's something, I guess 🙂

#ManOfMedan #DarkPicturesAnthology

Anyone tried to stream #DarkPicturesAnthology games from a PC to #SteamDeck? Maybe even to a TV with an attached controller?
Does that work well enough at all? I even have wired LAN available close by if need be.

Played some "The Devil In Me" yesterday with @Nio. We were cut short by my neighbor coming for dog walkies. But I'm sure we'll continue it soon!
It's different from the previous Dark Pictures games, and sometimes I'm so lost as to what I should be doing... 😂
But not looking anything up! I want it to be new all the way till the end... 😊
So no spoilers please!

October 20, 2023 - Day 293 - NewPlay Review
Total NewPlays: 312

Game: The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes

Platform: Steam
Release Date: Oct 22, 2021
Installation Date: Oct 20, 2023
Unplayed: 0d
Playtime: 26m

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is a third-person interactive survival horror game.

This is the third of this month's Humble Choice Bundle games, and by the same developer as The Quarry, Supermassive Games.

Unfortunately, like The Quarry, this is another playable horror movie, and like The Quarry, I have no desire to play it.

In one sense, I'm disappointed. It's not like this is a bad game. The design quality and atmosphere are great, the sound design is excellent.

This is very much a me problem, rather than a gameplay issue.

If interactive survival horror movies are your thing, you'll probably get a kick out of it.

On the other hand, I'm going to have to play *something* else to be able to relax enough to sleep.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is:
