Just filed an FTC complaint against Yahoo. They gate account deletion behind forced acceptance of new terms that include sharing your inbox with Microsoft's AI. Their own TOS says you can delete anytime. Their privacy email bounces. So I filed.

Man is Google fucking desperate. They were spamming me Gemini marketing stuff to my personal (backup email on my gmail account) email account because I *one time* accidentally clicked yes to their "PLEASE LET US SHOVE GEMINI INTO YOUR PHONE'S ORIFICES" popup that had nagged me 7527 times, months ago, and have never actively used any Gemini anything on my personal account or device.
I loathe that none of this shit is meaningfully opt in. Even in the cases where it is opt in, it's dark patterned so hard that eventually they'll trick you. #Bastards #AI #Hype #DarkPatterns

‘Dark patterns’: Investigating online manipulation.
Ireland’s media regulator is investigating Facebook and Instagram on suspicion that manipulative user interfaces — so-called dark patterns — are used, violating Article 27 of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA).
A breach could result in fines of up to 6% of global annual revenue. In Meta’s case, this would amount to up to €20 billion.

(4/12) But by design LLMs hide the involvement of humans in their process chain. Their entire marketing and UX requires this invisibility. The result is no different from any other UX dark pattern. Users adopt patterns of use that designers prefer. Designers train on those patterns creating a self-reinforcing loop. If this scales, I think it'll be worse than social media.

Google nie ustaje w wysiłkach, by przekonać nas, że sztuczna inteligencja to nasza nowa, lepsza rzeczywistość.
Model Gemini wylewa się z każdego zakamarka usług z logo wielkiego G, na czele z Gmailem i Dyskiem. Gigant zarzeka się, że dba o naszą prywatność, ale w praktyce rezygnacja z asysty AI została zaprojektowana tak, by ostatecznie i tak zmusić nas do kliknięcia „zgadzam się”.
Prywatne maile to karma dla AI
Choć firma oficjalnie twierdzi, że nie używa naszych osobistych plików z Google Workspace i maili do trenowania fundamentalnych modeli AI, sprawa nie jest czarno-biała. Jeśli pozwolimy, aby Gemini miał dostęp do naszych aplikacji w celu podsumowywania wiadomości czy szukania dokumentów, model może wygenerować z nich tzw. „snippety”. Jak punktuje serwis Ars Technica, te wygenerowane podsumowania mogą już stać się „karmą” do dalszego trenowania algorytmów pod kątem lepszego reagowania na intencje użytkowników.
Co gorsza, jedynym sposobem na całkowite zablokowanie uczenia się AI na naszych danych z czatów jest… wyłączenie opcji „Aktywność w aplikacjach Gemini”. Brzmi prosto, ale oznacza to, że tracimy dostęp do historii swoich wcześniejszych zapytań i rozmów z botem. Google stosuje tu klasyczny dylemat – albo oddajesz dane, albo tracisz kluczową funkcjonalność narzędzia.
To działanie, które eksperci od UX wprost nazywają dark pattern, czyli manipulowaniem interfejsem przeciwko intencjom użytkownika.
Chcesz wyłączyć AI? Pożegnaj się z ulubionymi funkcjami
Jeszcze gorzej sytuacja wygląda, gdy chcemy po prostu pozbyć się natrętnego Gemini z poczty Gmail. Próżno szukać w ustawieniach jednego przycisku, który dezaktywuje wyłącznie nowości związane ze sztuczną inteligencją. Zamiast tego, Google ukryło tę opcję pod przyciskiem nazwanym „Inteligentne funkcje”.
Jego wyłączenie faktycznie uciszy AI, ale jednocześnie całkowicie zepsuje to, jak od lat korzystamy z poczty. Pozbędziemy się bowiem podziału skrzynki na kategorie (Społeczności, Oferty itp.), automatycznego wyciągania wydarzeń do Kalendarza, śledzenia przesyłek czy funkcji Smart Compose. Dla przeciętnego użytkownika to sytuacja bez wyjścia. Kiedy po rezygnacji z AI okazuje się, że skrzynka pocztowa tonie w chaosie starych powiadomień, Gmail litościwie wyświetla okienko z propozycją przywrócenia starych funkcji – co automatycznie oznacza ponowne wyrażenie zgody na obecność Gemini. Gigant z Mountain View doskonale wie, jak silna jest potęga domyślnych ustawień i robi wszystko, abyśmy w erze AI nawet nie próbowali ich zmieniać.

Řešení je jednoduché:nepoužívat karty a používat hotovost,kterou člověk vybere přímo na přepážce.Toto je dle mého názoru důvod,proč vlády a jejich lobbyisti chtějí zrušit hotovost:aby mohli vydírat přemrštěné výpalné za běžný život občana.

Dutch YouTube creators behind Alberta separatist videos getting millions of views
Albertans end up bombarded with targeted messaging that amounts to Propaganda or Slopaganda, funded by dark money.
This week, a report by the Media Ecosystem Observatory (MEO), a joint project between the University of Toronto and McGill University in Montreal looking into Canadian media, identified 20 YouTube channels as part of a co-ordinated network focused on separatism in western Canadian provinces, and other political issues.
The report noted they use near-identical scripts and dubbed them “slopaganda.”
Altogether, the accounts have garnered roughly 40 million views.
The report says many of the videos contain “frequent and obvious lies, drawing on real news stories to reach exaggerated conclusions designed to exploit political divisions.” The report did not identify the individuals behind the apparent network, citing a lack of “identifying information to real humans or organizations nor ties to the secession movement in Alberta.”
“I think it’s disturbing that these voices are able to insert themselves in the conversation, and their interest is not to further the democratic discourse or … have a healthy, authentic conversation,” said Chris Ross, a senior analyst at the Media Ecosystem Observatory.
“They’re putting themselves in the middle of that, misleading Albertans, Canadians, and they’re just doing it to make money.”

What Anthropic chooses to do next matters. A company cannot credibly claim to support human rights, as Anthropic have done in arguing against the use of their technology for war, and in the next breath undermine the fundamental human rights to privacy and data protection.
