  3. Scientists can now measure the mass of galaxies like the Large Magellanic Cloud (41 billion Suns) and Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy (350 million Suns) using pulsars. This is a new way to find out how much matter, including dark matter, is in our galactic neighbors.

  4. Fundamentally, #SuperCDMS is a bunch of really awesome people trying very hard to solve one of the most difficult questions in the universe: why won’t most of the matter in this universe talk to us #atoms?

Being #atomic matter is lonely, it turns out. Having great colleagues in a dedicated collaboration makes the loneliness more tolerable. Maybe, together, we can do what no atomic matter on Earth has ever done before: directly engage with the dominant #darkmatter of this universe.

  6. I am super-excited to welcome @ @supercdms.bsky.social to the Fediverse! The Super Cryogenic #DarkMatter Search is a @snolabscience.bsky.social -hosted ultra-sensitive instrument intended to hunt for constituents of dark matter.

#SuperCDMS recently passed a bunch of milestones, including achieving their operational target temperature … just thousandths of a degree above ABSOLUTE ZERO!

Welcome to the #Fediverse! I encourage dark-matter-curious fedizens to follow!

“Beyond ΛCDM: How the SLRPS Field Replaces Dark Matter and Dark Energy Through Present‑Tense Electromagnetic Propagation in NACM Cosmology.”

This paper introduces SLRPS — a structural EM signature that replaces the photon‑centric assumptions behind dark matter and dark energy.

    I built this model independently.

  11. I was delighted to be able to visit the #ErnestRutherford Museum at #McGillUniversity when I was recently in #Montreal. I spotted this gem in a display case. The docent recalled the story of Harriett Brooks. It rang a bell, and when I got home I cracked open Dava Sobel’s “The Elements of Marie Curie”. Sure enough, Brooks has a whole chapter devoted to her.

The “new gas from radium” is now called “radon” and it’s critical to the research I and many others do in the search for #DarkMatter.

  13. Gamma Ray Anomaly Hints at Dark Matter Presence, Sparking Scientific Debate

New gamma ray signals from space could be dark matter. Scientists are debating if this is the first direct sign of dark matter. Find out what it means.

  24. "Did you know scientists estimate 27% of the universe is dark matter?

Dark matter is an invisible form of matter that makes up most of the universe, yet its existence is only inferred through its gravitational effects. It remains one of the biggest mysteries in modern astrophysics.

'The universe is not only stranger than we think, it is stranger than we can think.' - Albert Einstein.

What if dark matter is actually a parallel universe within our own?

"What if Dark Matter Doesn’t Actually Exist?

Modern cosmology assumes dark matter exists. But what makes us so certain that dark matter is the answer—and what if we're wrong?

    (. . .)

Accounting for dark matter solves a lot of unexplained cosmological phenomena, and this convenience means that most astronomers readily accept that dark matter exists. Accordingly, many top-notch institutions worldwide dedicate resources toward carefully designed, technologically extraordinary experiments for detecting dark matter.

All that said, we’ve yet to find irrefutable proof of dark matter. Now, it’s worth emphasizing again that, as you’ll see, the indirect and theoretical evidence largely rules in favor of dark matter. But in physics, there’s always the slim possibility that we’re completely off the mark, and nature had other plans for how reality works."
