  2. #dariah2026 last session of the conference going on #ai #llm #infrastructure - it might be the heat but I find it increasingly irritating that the underlining common ground is to agree on the so-called assistance of research and #DigitalHumanities via #ai - it reminds me of early days when we were discussing #distantreading : Analysing thousands of books only takes seconds. Now, all problems of format transformation, annotations, data cleaning and modeling are solved in seconds by #ai ? Really?

  3. #dariah2026 Today is the last day of the conference and I managed to catch a bus in #roma despite the national strike going on in Italy. Let's see how many people make it to the venue today... Crossing the Tiber now

  4. #dariah2026 very nice workflow presented by the colleagues from Bologna university Katarina Lučić, Adriana Iezzi about "Preserving Cultural Heritage through a Digital Archive" also in collaboration with the Finnish seco.cs.aalto.fi/tools/sampo-u which was presented the other day.

  5. The #Dariah2026 keynote lecture by Andreas Fickers addresses the challenges of a #UI design in #digitalarchives that unduly hides complexity and forces different perspectives into one unified corpus:

  6. The keynote of #DARIAH2026 has kicked off!

"Multimodality as a means for multivocality? Transmedia storytelling and the challenges of shared authority in digital public humanities" by Andreas Fickers, director of the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH), 3rd Interdisciplinary Center at the University of Luxembourg and head of its Digital History Lab.

  7. Our #Dariah2026 presentation on "Digital Archives as a Public Good" is already available on Zenodo:

    zenodo.org/records/20347224

Our slides outline how we built the #Letters1916 collection as a community-driven digital archive that also engaged volunteers in transcription and data exploration. This project would not have been successful as an online-only endeavour but needed physical events for different audiences, including older women in rural areas.

  8. So happy to present with the fantastic DARIAH Working Group the poster "Data Papers, Data Stories, and Co. as ‘Participatory Science’" at the DARIAH-EU Annual Event 2026 at Rome! #DARIAH2026 #SeDOA #diamondopenaccess @sedoa

  9. Excited to be at the @dariaheu #DARIAH2026 Annual Event, presenting The #AIncientTutor! 🏛️✨ Developed at the Historisches Seminar of @uzh with Felix Maier, our project reshapes how we learn ancient languages using #LLM support. 🤖📚 By integrating #RAG with NLP pipelines like #LatinCy and #OdyCy, the system dynamically guides learners through unedited primary sources without needing prior annotations.

📜🔍 The platform modularises translation into sequential tasks (identifying clause structures, predicates, & grammatical functions).

🧠💡 All linguistic data is consolidated into a structured, fully inspectable JSON format to encourage critical engagement rather than passive acceptance.

💻📊 Planned extensions include an automated vocabulary trainer for #Anki export, adaptive difficulty, and instructor analytics dashboards.

📈🚀 Stop by the poster session to chat with me or reach out at [email protected]! 🗣️🤝 #DigitalHumanities #AIinEducation #LatinNLP #AncientGreek #EdTech #AncientLanguages #Latin
