Ubuntu may be moving somewhat away from what we might call “pure OSS.”
I first entered the world of Linux with Ubuntu 6.06, and today I use Debian. As of 2026, I rely entirely on non-commercial operating systems for both work and personal use.

The Ubuntu community never excluded beginners or raised unnecessary barriers.
That’s why I still hold Ubuntu in deep respect.

Congratulations on the release of the new version — truly. Thank you.

  4. I started my #Linux-based distro "daily driver" journey in 2006 with #Ubuntu #DapperDrake[1]. I haven't lingered too many years on it as #Fedora, #ArchLinux, #CentOS, #openSUSE and other derivatives tempted me on the way.

I thought my journey had finally become boring while sticking to Arch Linux for the past eight years but today is the day I go full circle - Ubuntu 22.04.

[1] I remember very few things in life so vividly as the image of that CD.
