Only two or three members of our group will make the journey to Koblenz, and we haven't registered for an assembly spot.

But we plan to bring a few assembled pagers and at least a small test transmitter (very limited range) so we can do a demonstration on the fly.

I test an MMDVM_HS_HAT duplex for POCSAG in DAPNET. I check the signal and the harmonics. Later a 70cm amplifier should be connected with filter for the harmonics. #hamradio #hampager #dapnet

Personal messages stop being sent after a while, only after a service restart or a Pi reboot. However, the other RIGS messages are always sent. I've seen in the log that the message is coming from DAPNET but isn't being sent. #DAPNET #POCSAG #PiStar

I get the impression #DAPNET is not in great shape these days. #hamr #hamradio

#AmateurRadio has a lot of awards. It also has #pagers, because thanks to #DAPNET, everything old is new again. So why not have awards for making contacts via paging?

1. DAPNET uses UHF, so it’s open to all hams regardless of license class.
2. More people turn on #POCSAG in their hotspots, growing the DAPNET network.
3. LotW won’t accept Internet-assisted QSOs, but QRZ does!
4. It encourages proper logging.
5. Bored with #HamRadio? Try a new mode!

Ridiculous? Yes. Let’s do it.

@HopelessDemigod No luck, either the pager is bad, or just will not work with #pistar I spent most of the afternoon trying to get it working, and trying to get my old #Dapnet #pager working, no luck.... but also in the box I found a couple of other pagers that do appear to work. Problem with them they are right on the edge of the band.

I know it's VHF band as marked on the label - and I have the cap code from the label. I'm not sure that I ever used it for anything, even thou I do remember buying it.

I wonder if it will work with #Dapnet My Dapnet pager stopped working a couple of years ago - and I really haven't thought much about it.
But amazingly this still powers up, so maybe it still works.

Ich schaue mir gerade #DapNet an. Den Account / Zugang habe ich schon eine Weile. Nun ist auch so ein #Pager dazu gekommen.

Erstes Erfolgserlebnis: Ich habe ihn konfiguriert, so dass er im Dapnet funktionieren müsste.
Nutzt nur leider nichts weil hier auf der Alb kein Sender in Reichweite ist. Das wird dann der nächste Schritt.

@asciijungle Welcome! It’s a great hobby for anyone who likes to tinker. Today, I just signed up for #DAPNET and sent my first page, like it’s the 1980s again. My hotspot sends out #APRS location packets, and I might make a weather report later.

New toys arrived today - #M5Stack Card Computer, really wish I had ordered two of these.
I want to try and make a 2 way #LoRa message system, maybe have it really pages from #Dapnet #AmateurPagingNetwork

Also picked up the M5Stack Env Pro Unit #BME688

And as a bonus, M5 sent me tape again - I really liked getting the #RFID cards, tape is kind of a silly thing to keep sending me LOL

Heute einen #POCSAG-#Funkruf-#Sender runtergeladen (https://github.com/cn0xroot/gr-pocsag-1) und auf den #HackRF #SDR geworfen.

Nachdem ich #gnuradio inkl. Zubehör komplett neu kompiliert und ein paar kleinere Anpassungen gemacht habe, läuft es nun und der #Pager empfängt meine Testmeldungen fehlerfrei.

Der Pager ist somit ok und die beobachteten Probleme scheinen auf zu geringe Stärke/Qualität des #DAPNET-Signals in Kombination mit der POCSAG-Fehlerkorrektur zurückzuführen zu sein.
