Hmmm.
This fight is hard as shit and it's not made any easier by the fact that I'm basically running away the second I see him pop into his curved sword phase.
Is there a way to force him into a specific mode? I'm having significantly more joy with the straight sword and the magic stage but (naturally) those seem to be the least likely to be deployed, at least in my experience.
-
I was told that the final boss was easy but I'm getting absolutely shredded.
-
Woohoo!
Nameless King is dead. That was cool as shit. I am pumped. And now I can do bedtime knowing I've accomplished my goal for the day, woop.
-
Devastating. Man was down to his last attack of health left....and I got greedy.
Never, ever get greedy.
-
Yeah, got him down to the final third of his health with 9+ flasks remaining. I can get this guy.
Would have been alright but I wasn't entirely sure what his charge up attack did and I attempted to roll through it rather than just run away.
Lesson learned.
-
Beaten his first stage three out of the last four attempts, so I'm feeling good about that one now.
Turns out, it's a good idea not to stand under this thing and instead fight it head on.
Second stage is proving trickier, but I think that's because I'm trying to trade blows with the guy.
I need to show a little restraint and get out of harms way after getting a few hits in.
-
Got him down to his second stage (and about 1/5 of his second health bar) before I got greedy and tried to roll through his attack.
I did not roll through his attack. Retreat, heal. I had literally all of my flasks left. Fool. Fooooool!
Also fuck dragon fights man. They literally all suffer from the same shitty camera issues and it does my gourd in.

Made my way to the boss at the end of Archdragon Peak. Spent about an hour trying to figure out where to go before I realised I was being a dum-dum and totally skipped the giant-fucking-foggate immediately in front of where I'd activated the bell.
Then got stuck in the fog wall and died immediately.
Yay.
-
Okay so I realised I'm in the end-game, but I wanted to finish off a few optional bosses before I tackle that one.
As best I can tell I've got the guy at the end of Archdragon Peak to slay, and then I'm onto the end-game boss.
Few of you have mentioned DLC. As per my usual answer with regards to this topic....I'll do the DLC on my second play through.
I'm 40 hours into this game. And that's like all of my free time over the last three+ weeks. Maybe when the kids are older...

Lorien and his erm, brother (?) are dead. Took two attempts after I...well got ambushed by the other guy.
Now what.
-
I've not played much of anything over the last few days, but I did manage to make my way to Lorien in #DanPlaysDarkSoulsTheThird.
Dudes kicking my backside with these teleport moves and Im going to have to get my dodge-roll timing down a bit but I'll get there eventually.
I shall persist.
-
Absolute cock!
I got him down to the last 10% of his health and for the first time in the twenty odd attempts I made so far....he shield bashed me off the edge.
Classic Asshole behaviour.
-
Made my way to the Dragonslayer Armour and whilst the guy hits really hard I know I'll get passed him eventually.
Might need to increase the + level on my sword however as I'm not doing nearly enough damage for my own looking.
-
Dancer is dead.
Ditched my trusty Uchigatana in favour of a dark infused Axe that...well, it fucked it up.
Got my dodge game down and the rest is history; although I did break my number one rule...never get greedy.
I got greedy, but managed to get it done.

Feel like Dancer of the Boreal Valley is basically 2 parts difficult boss fight and 8 parts awful fucking camera.
The thing moves so quickly that sometimes the camera will get stuck on a wall or something and you're basically at the mercy of a fluke dodge roll.
-
Dancer of the Boreal Valley is absolutely kicking my ass.
And the best part? I'm pretty routinely getting killed when I get the bad-guy down to like 2/5 of his health.
It feels a little like a Sekiro boss, just without the ability to properly parry the enemies moves.
-
Finished off Aldrich, Devourer of Gods last night.
Pretty rough fight as the bastard just didn't stop throwing shit my way, but it's done.
I've got no idea where to go next?
-
Beat Pontiff Sulyvahn on my third attempt.....
I kinda thought he'd be more tricky?
-
Just spent half an hour getting repeatedly owned by Yohn whilst doing absolutely zero damage....only to realise the One Neat Trick was staring at me the entire time.
It's dead now.
-
I'm not sure how the wider community feels about this, but #DarkSouls3 might just be my favourite one of these games.
I'm having an absolute blast with it and it seems to fit perfectly into my wheelhouse of 'challenging but not frustrating'.
-
For me, there's no better feeling in videogames than when you're on your final estus flask, and you walk around a corner and see the soft glow of a new bonfire.
Just pure relief.
-
Just got to the Boreal Valley and wow. I'm rarely awed in videogames but...just wow.
-
So I stumbled into a fight with the Abyss Watchers last night.
I'm assuming it's a two stage fight because despite playing it horribly I managed to get them down to like 1/5 of their health left before I made an Ill-advised lunge.
Is their attacking one another something I can rely on each and every time or was that a one off?
-
Pissed off Ent is dead. Onwards.

Back to #Videogames.
I played like three hours of #DarkSoulsIII last month on my Steamdeck and it immediately feels more my thing than the 2020 #DemonSouls did.
I've progressed to the road of.... something after beating Vordt on my second attempt.
Game runs pretty well at 45fps, although I get very occasional drops to 35 or so, although those are few and far between.

Hey, um...
Killed the first boss. Got fried by a surprise dragon. Found lots of bonfires. Feeling preeeeeeety good about my decision to skip DS/DS2 right now.
