Here's an audio recording I captured live a good 20yrs ago now. It's at the same location shared above, on a cool September evening. Even with a bit of wind noise, it gives me the chills to listen to it still.

For someone like me who has a limited vocal range, trying to learn "Danny Boy" is the choice between sounding like a frog in the deeper parts of the song or breaking apart on the high point.

Dear Americans, on #StPatricksDay, please remember that the song #DannyBoy is not an Irish song. The melody is, but the lyrics were written later by an Englishman. He never even visited Ireland. It would be rare to hear it played in any pub in Ireland, and probably mostly to appease American tourists.
I mean the lyrics don’t even make total sense from an Irish point of view. Ireland isn’t particularly known for its mountains… The lyrics sound more like they would refer to Scotland.
