I enjoyed their take on Mullvad. I'd argue that adding a brief additional note on https://www.privacyguides.org would be good; e.g. with a link to this video.

That would help Privacy Guides readers avoid choosing something that doesn't work at all for them in terms of values and what causes they support.

To have open debates we need to agree on a few basic things. Protecting #democracy and defending #HumanRights are two of those.

To quote Sandro Pertini (again): "All ideas deserve respect. #Fascism, however, does not. It is not an idea. It is the death of all ideas. The only way to understand fascism is to fight it."

I've already stopped being a #MullvadVPN customer and will update https://preciselyprivate.com to remove all Mullvad products as soon as I can.

Putting things in perspective:

"According to data collected by DonationWatch, 2025 was the most lucrative year in the party’s history, netting a total of 5.58 million SEK.

For comparison, the party received just 202,000 SEK in total donations throughout 2024."

Clearly a BIG FAN.

So, this means that if we renew our Mullvad subscriptions, some of our money may again end up being donated by co-founder/co-owner Daniel Berntsson to fund a party pushing for large-scale remigration and calling people parasites.

Nothing short of a Berntsson-free @mullvadnet is acceptable.

I am using Mullvad as I am writing this.

As many pointed out, it turns out Mullvad's co-founder/co-owner gave 5 million SEK (> 450,000€) to the Swedish ÖP party.

If you're wondering how bad, how fascist that party might be, the answer is VERY. See attachment.

But hate speech isn’t free speech. It demands violence against marginalized people. There is no “both sides” to it. It’s not okay to “fundamentally disagree” on it. If you are a company who earns income, and that income is funneled to a fascist political party, it is absolutely part of your mission. Even if it’s turning a blind eye to a teammate with whom you disagree.

It saddens me to have to walk away from @mullvadnet, but I have a zero tolerance policy for fascism.

I hope they learn from this and reconsider their position.
