#DaneloCavalcante, the convicted killer who escaped a #Philadelphia-area prison in late Aug, has been #captured, officials announced Wed morning, ending a 13-day manhunt that involved hundreds of LEOs, temporarily closed nearby schools & put the surrounding area on edge.

Pennsylvania State Police are receiving reports of escaped convict Danelo Cavalcante in the area of Ridge Rd/Coventryville Rd/Daisy Point Rd in South Coventry Township possibly armed with a weapon. Residents in the area are asked to lock all external doors and windows, secure vehicles, and remain indoors.

For my local friends who might be following this situation (escaped murderer), here's new info from the Pennsylvania State Police: "Last night, Danelo Cavalcante was seen near Phoenixville in northern Chester Co. He is now clean shaven and wearing a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, black baseball cap, green prison pants, and white shoes. He is operating white vehicle, unknown make. Call 911 if spotted." Been following the #DaneloCavalcante saga (the escaped prisoner outside of Philly) online, and like 95% of what I see on another certain site is absolute garbage.

Local school statement to parents:
Yup, there's a killer out there.
No buses will pick up kids within the perimeter, so parents need to drive them.
Also, there will be no outdoor recess.

The guy's 5' even.
The fact that all the 6' prisoners haven't just popped up there and walked off is a minor miracle.

I don't know if the person hosting the scanner following the #ManHunt took it down by choice or not yet.
I also don't know if someone else plans on replacing them.I DO know there were a lot of people upset that the chatter was available to the public in the first place.
The escape, the containment failure, the incredibly poor communication with the public, & the radio issue, - there's going to be a lot of data for after action reports once this is done.

We're ~15m into this #PressConference for the #DaneloCavalcante #ManHunt & I'm stuck in my head really wishing we had better local journalism.
For reference, one reporter just implied that if he got to Delaware he wouldn't be pursued because that'd be out of PA State Police jurisdiction.

#DaneloCavalcante has slipped the perimeter. He was captured on trail camera along PA52 on the border of Longwood Gardens and Kendal-Crosslands at 2233h last night.
