Antonino X Nora Zion X Abbe May – Karmageddon (The Very Reductionistic Karmic Mix)

Found Objects is a music compilation series that celebrates the return of the remix and the art of sampling (as in found audio). Australian audio artist (and Cream magazine editor) Antonino Tati trawls the internet to discover insane educational videos, mad retro advertisements, and cool-as film quotes, layering words of wit (and occasional dimwittedness) over alternative, preloved mixes of songs.

Each track is a pretty awesome head trip. Great to show off on the playlist. And the music featured is varied, with Volume 01 containing remixes of songs by Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Darren Hayes, Eurythmics, Suede, EMF, Thomas Dolby, George Michael, and Pet Shop Boys.

Just added this week is a beaut remix of Abbe May’s Karmageddon by mix-mistress Nora Zion. The original remix was awe-inspiring enough, with Zion taking an already moody song and adding extra venge and melancholy through altered bass and some fab reverb action. Of course Cream had to step in and add another layer – a commonsensical dialogue about what karma actually is. Consider this free track part of your good karma, then, and dare to get into the dark (but light!) groove.

Me apasiona el modo de entender la música de las divas old school.

Una de las mejores canciones de ChakZilla lleva un tiempo siendo single oficial. El motivo es que no podría ser de otro modo. Esta pieza movidita y disco -boogie boogie- suena a la propia Chaka Khan (la entonación nasal y la dicción son únicas) en una fecha cualquiera dentro de los setentas, con su toque Moroder en el arreglo.

Por si fuera poco el video indice en ello a través de los planos y encuadres; a la par que su duración no entiende de cortes con ganchos o coreos para tiktokear (¿qué brujería es esa?).

Porque así está cómoda ella, ajena a modas fugaces. Así lo baila. Desde luego yo no le cambiaría nada a esta fiesta.
