In this context #Patrick #Krauss was also currently at the „#Embodied and #Situated #Language #Processing (#ESLP2024) conference from 03 to 05 October 2024, which was organized by members of the „#Brain #Language #Lab“ of the #FreienUniversitätBerlin. Ein „Highlight“ war zum Beispiel das sehr spannende Interview „Zoomposium mit Dr. #Patrick #Krauß: „Bauanleitung Künstliches Bewusstsein“, in dem wir ihn zu den Möglichkeiten befragt haben, „wie man die #Theorien des #Bewusstseins – insbesondere jene von #Antonio #Damasio – nutzen könnte, um künstliche Systeme zu entwickeln, die auf "#gefühlten" #Informationen basieren. Diese Grundlage könnte dazu dienen, um #maschinelles #Lernen und #Deep #Learning so zu gestalten, dass KI-Systeme lernen, ähnlich wie #biologische #Organismen auf #Emotionen und #Veränderungen in ihrer #Umgebung zu reagieren.

In diesem Zusamenhang war #Patrick #Krauß auch aktuell vom 03. bis 05. Oktober 2024 auf der #Embodied and #Situated #Language #Processing (#ESLP2024) conference, die von Mitgliedern des #Brain #Language #Lab der #FreienUniversitätBerlin organisiert worden war. Dort hatte er zuammen mit seinem Team von der #FAU die Möglichkeit die neuesten Forschungsergebnisse vorzustellen.

In dem Vortrag von #Patrick #Krauß ging es um eine Studie „Analyzing Narrative Processing in Large Language Models“, die er in Zusammenarbeit mit seinem Kollegen #Achim #Schilling erstellt hatte. Die Ergebnisse dieser Studie basieren zum Teil auf einen Artikel „Leaky-Integrate-and-Fire Neuron-Like Long-Short-Term-Memory Units as Model System in Computational Biology“, für den er und sein Team auf der „International Jount Conference on Neural Networks #IJCNN2023“, der weltweit größten interdisziplinären Konferenz für #künstliche und #biologische #neuronale #Netze zusammen mit seinem Team mit dem #BestPaperAward ausgezeichnet worden ist.

Es geht bei der aktuellen KI-Forschung von Herrn #Krauß folglich um ein echtes „jointventure“ zwischen #KI und #Neurowissenschaft, da die Daten und Methoden direkt zur Verbesserung von großen #Sprachmodellen (#Large #Language #Model #LLM), wie z. B. #ChatGPT beitragen können und im Gegenzug die #kognitiven #Neurowissenschaften aus der #Implementierung und #Simulation von #kognitiven #Prozessen auf #Maschinen ebenfalls wieder etwas über die #Verwendung und #Bildung von #Sprache im #Gehirn erfahren können.

La notion de #biopunk de #damasio est une variante du #solarpunk mais que je trouve plus juste, car le solar nous amène vers un univers basé sur une énergie abondante décarboné alors que le bio se recentre sur la résilience et les conditions de vie sur terre

Note sur la féminisation des pluriels, dans le dernier ouvrage d’Alain Damasio, Vallée du Silicium. À mon sens pertinent, venant de ce maître de la langue.

"Avec quelque raison, notre époque porte le combat politique au cœur de la grammaire française, pour tenter d'en défaire la domination indue du masculin. Du point médian qui hache la lecture à la concaténation du type «auteurice» qui alourdit les mots, les procédés de l'écriture inclusive se multiplient, tous discutables et discutés.

Ici comme souvent, c'est la fluidité, qualité princeps de l'écriture, qui fait défaut. Comme si la tension naturelle de la langue, qui privilégie concision, liquidité et euphonie était le point aveugle de ces méritoires tentatives d'amélioration. L'élégance élémentaire appelle plutôt les épicènes et l'alternance, notamment, du féminin et du masculin dans les énumérations.

Je propose pour cet ouvrage une solution simple et percutante que je fais alterner une chronique sur deux: c'est la féminisation assumée des pluriels neutres.

Mon espoir est que la gymnastique mentale consistant à se souvenir que, derrière les Européennes, il existe bien entendu aussi des Européens (hommes), fasse pendant aux quatre siècles où c'est le masculin pluriel qui valait «aussi» pour un féminin enfoui ou caché derrière, en tout cas subsumé.

Subsumer en miroir le masculin fait ressentir, il me semble, ce que ça fait d'être implicite, et donc non exprimé dans un texte. Ce que ça change (ou pas) de notre perception de l'équilibre des genres. Comme vous l'éprouverez sûrement, ce modeste retournement produit un trouble réel, que je trouve stimulant, sinon salutaire."

I'm finally reading Pessoa's The Cognitive-Emotional Brain, and I wrote a brief essay on it. I'm staying pretty high level, even though the book is pretty detailed and technical.
