  1. 🐋🐬 A #Dalhousie University study documents potential interspecies cooperation between northern resident killer #whales and #Pacific white-sided #dolphins during #salmon hunting in #BritishColumbia waters.

Using #drones and camera tags, researchers observed killer whales following dolphins' lead to locate Chinook salmon, with the dolphins then sharing pieces of #fish caught by the orcas.

  2. As I walk to #KalaTop (almost 8500 feet above the sea level, in the #Himalayan region of #Dalhousie #Chamba #HimachalPradesh), I come across 1000's these eerie plants which look like 'cobra-hoods'!

Nothing to worry, these are harmless plants

These are from the 'genus Arisaema', known for their medicinal properties

  3. This is absolutely unbelievable, that your health records in #NovaScotia could be accessed so easily.

Premier had data leaks affecting 1 million Nova Scotians that has not been addressed, and a Privacy Minister #TimHouston won't grant power to do her job.

#Dalhousie University and #NovaScotia Health are refusing interviews to discuss the situation after a Nova Scotian woman learned that a fellow student snooped repeatedly in her medical records. #NSHealth #NSpoli

  4. I'm not new to mastodon but I am new to this server so perhaps an(other) introduction is in order? I teach #Victorian literature and detective fiction at #Dalhousie. My research interests include ethical criticism; historiography; and 19th- and 20th-C women writers of 'novels of purpose' (which is what I am focusing on in my current projects).

I've been writing my blog Novel Readings since 2007. I post there about things I read, about my teaching, about academia and criticism more generally, and sometimes about personal things.

When I'm not reading, I like to crochet and do cross-stitch, both of which are good ways to keep the hands busy while listening to bookish podcasts.

If the bird site really does implode, I'll miss it a lot, but it's the community I've found there that matters to me, and maybe it will survive in new spaces - like this one!

  5. It feels nice to be back at my summer home at #Bakrota #Dalhousie in the #Chamba District of #HimachalPradesh #India

Away from the heat & dust of #NewDelhi #Delhi this #Himalayan city is still experiencing cold weather.
The minimum temperature is just about 5° centigrade & maximum touches just about 15°.

One of the most mesmerizing spots of the #Himalayas the mountain range seen here is the Pir Panjal Range across which lies the #Indian State of #JammuAndKashmir and, #Pakistan further beyond.

He had been wearing a dark shirt with a white pattern across the back, white pants and white sneakers.

HRP are still investigating a stabbing that took place at the party. They've said officers had to take the 19-year-old male victim to hospital in a police cruiser because paramedics couldn't reach the area.

  8. The #Chemistry Building (including MacDonald Building & Chemical Stores) #Dalhousie is currently being evacuated. This is a pre-cautionary measure while Facilities Management addresses an air handling issue. Building will be closed this morning with an update by noon. Please #evacuate immediately in an orderly fashion. Security personnel are on-scene assisting with the evacuation. dal.apparmor.ca/notifications/ #Halifax #Hazmat #Evacuation #University #Chemicals
