For calculations however, extreme caution is warranted. If you don't know what the result of a particular calculation SHOULD be, then you can't assume things will be fine. Just tried a new technique for complex thresholding that can cut computation time in half for certain #Entropy problems.That it did. Different answer every time tho

Sunday #DailyTracks : Darling Sister today delivered a #NY #CornedBeef and #Pastrami on Rye with melted Swiss and onions...something not seen in these parts in a long time. That made it an official day off. Jam session followed and good time was had by all. Never underestimate the power of a great sandwich. #HueyLewis had this covered but it turned into something else entirely. Somehow also very good for some time off

Jams are what they are, locally or long distance. We are lucky that technology can enable certain localizations of things . It doesn’t have to to be perfect to bring people together for the purpose of making music. If we can hear each other we can respond in kind, and work out any slippage after the fact

If uniqueness / functionality and voicing en situ are primary it gets a bit easier- #Holdsworth, #Metheny, #Dimeola, #Morse, #Lifeson, #Petrucci. If your going to be stuck in a band for fifty years with someone the #Comedy factor is important. In that regard #AlexLifeson probably has the edge

1/2 Tuesday #DailyTracks : So journey this week is getting the #YouTube channel going with as little fuss as possible. It's taken a bit O' flailing and three days to get keys, drums and voice from DAW to OBS with two cams running and recording.
The next thing is that one of the cams refuses to work with broadcast at anything other than 30 fps- too laggy for hands on keys, so switcheroo..
Color matching the two cams via normal controls is a complete lost cause. Doing it in post w/Resolve is...

Saturday #DailyTracks : There are times when you go do that thing that kept getting pushed down the list as nonessential and then that thing just clicks and your like, why the hell did I wait so long to do this? Our valuations of things at times are just way off. If your not careful you wind up dividing, separating what #Music is from what being a #Musician is. You can’t wall off one from the other if both are a part of who you are, any more than breathing air is some kind of optional indulgence

1/n Saturday #DailyTracks : So finally been cajoled / ridiculed into getting the site and a long time threatened #YouTube channel to some semblance of what’s expected of a going concern . Naturally after updating everything those now ancient exploratory 2 year old configs for the DAW and #OBS working together were schmutz-hammered…
That ultra retentive reflex kicked in after getting those working again so spent next 4 hours trying to make two very different webcams look like they were not born…

Thursday #DailyTracks : Did #Presonus #StudioOne jus bite the dust ? Not really. #Fender has owned the shop for several years. They just put on a fresh coat O’ paint, added some new widgets and liberally sprinkled with Fender dust . I bailed when Studio One went to a subscription model several years prior. Thanks but no. Truth be told if a DAW does what you need it to do most of these shenanigans won’t change that. Just freeze your copy and backup version in case they screw with the licensing

If this is happening in an interview with a top tier musician forced into the “name that chord progression” game in a genre that primarily centers around ears and improvisation ( and most analyses occur after the fact ! )…you take pause. If it’s an #OscarPeterson band member…you tiptoe away quietly. Happening a lot lately

Sunday #DailyTracks : Research has really drowned out everything in proximity of late and this year even the usual holiday #Music production bits were a punt. Everyone else being in a similar situation maybe made that too easy. Music is that essential element that keeps the life force shiny so in practice balance requires keeping all those irons in the fire. It’s a hard challenge and I’ll admit to not being happy with some choices made earlier this season. Learning is still a thing after all

Thursday #DailyTracks : There are a lot of advantages to being a
#MultiInstrumentalist but of course the jack of all trades, master of none challenge applies and increases per instrument. If you’re also a vocalist it will likely be your first source of neglect. Maintaining and or expanding range when parts go that whole tone beyond requires serious attention…and maybe a vocal coach. Practice your instrument (s) , find the right routine and synergy will shrink the challenges to within reason

Friday #DailyTracks : So yeah Horn back in the mix after a decade but new in that decided to make the move to #Tenor. Starting off like whoa this is gonna take awhile but okay thatza normal. Then only #2 Rl on hand split right away & stiffer reeds were nearly unplayable. #Vandoren #2's Java's arrive today like a *magic* button. Instant fun. Also a potent reminder that ur students need to learn up front how to identify bad reed problems !
