In the heat of summer, and with tents that can’t protect us from the burning weather, we put water in clay pots so we can drink it. Otherwise, the water becomes too hot. This is part of our daily struggle living in tents — searching for a simple sip of cool water.

When was the last time you said “I’m fine” and absolutely was not? “I’m fine” has become muscle memory. Not a statement. A reflex. Something you say so people stop looking at you like you might fall apart in the cereal aisle. Lately it comes out daily. Sometimes hourly.
