Everyone has their "daily driver" now. What's that?
In former times someone was "looking for a new job" now they seek their "next role".I am not a native speaker, so this may be the reason why I think it sounds weird. Or not?🤷

Ich suche in meiner #Freizeit eine neue niedrigschwellige #Herausforderung technischer Natur für mich.
Liebäugle schon eine kleine Weile damit #Haiku auf einem (vernünftigen...) Endgerät zu installieren und eine Zeit lang als #DailyDriver einzusetzen.

Until today I haven't used #xfce DE before, as I was attracted by KDE, and I also use (in a very loose term) Cinnamon, as #linuxmint is my #dailydriver .
But as my installation of #fedora42 went wrong somehow and I don't have much time to investigate, I've decided to try some #LightweightLinux on my laptop.
#manjaro with XFCE, so far, it's not bad, a bit different from Mint, sure. But I hope the usefulness of the old machine will increase. -
I run Arch Linux, btw. No really, I do. Curious why? You do? Creepy! But go on, read why. I dare you!

I have a new #dailydriver #phone. In the spirit of getting away from fascists supporting big-tech I bought a used phone and put #lineageos on it. It's great! I still miss #postmarketos but for a daily, the other one currently works better. A lot better than the #iphone I had to fall back on.
I do still have another phone for development for postmarketos so no worries. I'm still committed.

Eine entgoogeltes Mobiltelefon mit dem @murena OS auf einer coolen @Fairphone Hardware ohne Tracking und Werbung würde mich als kleiner Selbstversuch ja schon sehr reizen... aber keine Ahnung, ob es zum #dailydriver reicht.

To my great good fortune, Jesper at T.E. was kind enough to send this case to me as a gift. My 13yo son then assembled the machine (after weighing in with strong opinions about each component). Both gifts make me feel very fortunate.
Believe me when I say the density of tangled cabling inside this box is... high.

#update to my current #dogfooding attempts with #postmarketos. the #oneplus6 has been promoted to #dailydriver and the #iphone has been retired and only serves as emergency backup without a sim card. Here are the highlights:
- watch youtube, peertube, twitch, plex ✅

- take and place calls ✅
- listen to podcasts ✅
- check bank account ✅
