January 2026 Daily Drawings!

Here they all are, the dailies I attempted for January 2026! I didn't do one for each day, and I didn't post all the art I did either in separate art posts which you can see in these summaries. I wasn't sure the best way to split it up, but by showing the two halves of the month, you can see when I had the time/energy to do these.

I don't have plans to do another month of these, but I would love to do them from time to time. They were fun to do and share and gave me confidence that I can get ideas out relatively quickly. Each of these took anywhere from 1 to 2 hours.

Daily Drawings: Jan 24 & 28 Father is doing that cat shadow meme & Null is taking on 2-ish Pillowfort OC Fun challenges! (Expression & colour palette.) I had no idea what to do for Null's background so I tried to draw potential wings. #OCFather #OCNull #SalOCs #OC #OCSky #Art #DailyDrawings

I draw Father one day and then he just comes back! Father is doing that cat shadow meme and Null is taking on 2-ish Pillowfort OC Fun challenges! (Expression and colour palette.) I had no idea what to do for Null's background so I quickly tried to fill in some potential wings for them.

We have some of my fave Golden Sun Dark Dawn Djinn! Turns out I think I love all of the Jupiter ones, oops, but ran out of time to draw more. Then I wanted to draw an unusual form for Mother but I had no direction so we got whatever this is!

Spent a whole month drawing all my OCs but Father, so it was finally Father's turn! Except instead of one drawing, we get some general character practice & expressions! The day before I did some timed traditional hand drawing practices from Line of Action. Each was about 5 minutes. The Yellow Halloween Ghost Light Pikmin was a bonus after the practices.

I wanted to draw more flowers this year, so that's at least one down for 2026! This is a moth orchid which when I heard it had moth in its name, I wanted to draw it! Then here's Titania from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance! I love her and her design soooooo much. I needed some armour practice so she got picked!

Daily Drawings: Jan 12-14 Null chibi is a little rough from a break, but they're reading a lovely letter from someone! Then a Mirabelle from In Stars and Time as a celebration for completing the game! Chisa is trying out a new outfit! #OCNull #OCChisa #ISAT #Art #SalOCs #OC #OCSky #DailyDrawings

Mother's birthday picture took up time and then took a break to play through In Stars And Time!

Null chibi is a little rough, but they're reading a lovely letter from someone! Then a Mirabelle from In Stars and Time as a celebration for completing the game. Had a very good time with it. Finally, Chisa is trying out a new outfit!! It's based on quick search from a pinterest post. I wanted to give her more fishnets and try out a skirt and that's about as far as I went looking into an outfit.

(3/3) #solorpg note cont.

- One thing I still enjoy from my game methods are having a short countdown so that it can be shorter parts/chapters/issues. It gives a nice breaking place. I use variables for Trouble and Mission. When one hits 6 the current part of the game ends.

- Thinking about ways to have an engaging game with set amount of 'time' so as to fill up a sketchbook exactly to the end.

(2/3) Some other notes form the current #solorpg sessions.

- Trying blocking with a cyan gelpen, then only using the black pen on key elements. I want to get a light color with a thicker tip to try as well.

- I always have nicer drawings when I am starting fresh.

- Always challenging to 'play' the NPC's and find easy ways to give them more random actions that still make sense. Probably will list 2 or 3 choices n roll on them.

(1/3) I have really been enjoying my current #solorpg session, particularly since I have to really pause and think about what I want the character to do. Included, when witnessing questionable act by someone else, whether to stay or run, worried they will be blamed for it.

- I edited my prompts a while back. First time I have gotten 'ELSEWHERE' which means I know story that my character does now.

Just finished the first 'chapter' of my current #sketchbooksolorpg game and wanted to reflect on the experience. (#city23jan)

In Jan I did one month of the #city23 #dailydrawings challenge. In Feb I set-up my sketchbook and made a character based on a random location.

I played 'Mark Raker' a middle age man who is a bit of a trickster. He's on vacation in the city of 'Bellstorm' with one goal, to try the famous sea food at a well known restaurant.

My friend posted a gorgeous image of two poppy pods that I couldn't resist.

Picked up iPad with Paper and pencil, and… didn’t think I could… but. But! Actually.

I did. 10 minutes spent, maximum, and I could.

I CAN?!
