Yesterday I realized that the #FreeBSD 13.5 vm use for syslog-ng development and testing is end of life. So, wearing my favorite @FreeBSD #daemon t-shirt I rebuilt my environment on FreeBSD 15.0, and even successfully built #syslog_ng from a git snapshot 😉

＂Recently saw the "is FreeBSD really that goated" thread and it brought back the timeline of my own journey. Started with a rough —call it version 0.9 — build that barely had X11 working, evolved through five iterations, landed on something I'd call "production-stable personal desktop" around version 2.0 on FreeBSD 15.0 with a heavily customized MATE, ZFS boot environments, BastilleBSD jails for microservices, WireGuard tunnels and PF.

Иногда старые проекты дают о себе знать в самый неожиданный момент — так случилось и с моим Linux GPIO Daemon. Коллеги из департамента методик и автоматизации тестирования в YADRO заинтересовались разработкой, и я наконец решил довести его до ума. Расскажу о демоне, который реагирует на события линий: текстовым сообщением об изменении состояния в сокет либо запуском скрипта. Это аналог incron-ng, только мониторит он не файлы, а линии GPIO. А в конце обсудим, как найти и затем не терять нужный нам gpiochip.

With that you could control menus and it would be (not) trivial to write your own Universal menu interface and control it from the AREXX device in your programs. For that you'd need to program a AREXX daemon for your OS and a universal menu interface that you control from your programs through the AREXX daemonAre you up for that work?
