While kiddo was doing his own things with #LEGO, along with the other kids there, and occasionally asking me for help taking bricks apart, or finding a certain brick, I made a miniature #tableFootball stadium for a game of two versus two. It uses four sets of two LEGO Technic sticks joined together, with the torso of a minifig attached to the joint. Each figure can be rotated and moved horizontally enough to get the 'ball' (the head of a minifig) across the entire court.
Afterwards #BeardGrabber suggested swapping the minifigs out for red and purple ghost figures.

A while ago I picked up a more modern book of fairy tales because I really didn't like the old fashioned values and role models the one I had before it described, since "girls should want to be princesses who serve their husbands" and "princesses needs to be married off to rich princes and not have any wishes of their own" aren't ideals I want to teach #BeardGrabber.
Today we read a take on Cinderella (Askepott), and I really liked it, and made me glad I replaced the horrible old-fashioned book with that more modern one!

• no bad step-sisters; just a bit stuck up sisters
• a down to earth Askepott who likes to climb trees, ride horses backwards, and go out barefoot
• Askepott likes to spend time with the cook and staff
• Askepott (ash pot, since she liked to cook potatoes in hot ash) was suggested as a nickname by her sisters, perhaps mockingly, but she liked it and decided to adopt the name herself and make it her own, since she didn't like her birth name, Ella
• she faked being sick to not have to go to the ball
• fairy godmother was going to make her the usual Cinderella/Askepott ballroom outfit, but Askepott declined; said she had plenty of nice dresses but just didn't feel like going
• instead she suggested the fairy godmother would make outfits for the staff and send them on a night out in a pumpkin carriage!
• Askepott welcomes them back with food she made for them
• they end up throwing a party themselves
• prince charming eventually also arrives, and he likes the same mundane things as her, and doesn't want to dance
• The prince hates his name, so Askepott suggests he picks his own name, which he does: Leif Ole
• he is afraid, his father, the king, will make him dance and do boring things, so Askepott gets the fairy godmother to make them a hot air balloon and they run off together. 😂

especially the wooden train set he got from me and @Siiw seems to be a great hit :D
Having his party outside at a sort of camp place, together with a bunch of kids from his kindergarten and some neighbour kids, was a good idea. Plenty of space and playing opportunities for them to get rid of some energy after all the cakes, sausages and drinks, while also not having to worry about the noise levels. 😏😀

So today my son (almost 4) asked me how babies get out of the belly when they are born.
He got me a bit off guard because the question came out of nowhere.
The first thing that I came up with was "they come out from down there"
His response:
"Where? The butt? The ear?"

This #MaySiXth #MSXDay I'm introducing almost-five-years-old #BeardGrabber to #MSX games again. He's probably the same age now as when my parents got our #Philips #NMS8250 #MSX2 #homecomputer, and now, probably about 35 years later, he gets to play on the very same machine, playing the same original copies as I got or bought during my childhood, which feels quite special. 💙
So far we've played some #BubbleBobble, #Brisk and now #PinballBlaster. His #joystick and #keyboard control isn't good yet, but he's still very much enjoying the experience! 💚

I also have some videos of him playing, but I need some time to review the footage to make sure it doesn't show kiddo's face and such. :)

#BeardGrabber is absolutely fascinated by a video of #NileRed turning vinyl gloves and vanilla sugar into hot sauce through chemistry.
I guess an almost 5 year old likes seeing all the chemical reactions; the colour changing, the bubbling, the crystalisation, and distillation. As well as the different tools.

My highschool chemistry knowledge definitely isn't what it used to be though. 😅

@grumpy I couldn't quickly find something I liked, so I threw together a proof of concept myself: https://fixato.org/temp/FindIt/

The process still is a bit more involved than I'd like, as I need to create an SVG file myself in which I mark the regions that are different, but that's something I can probably automate further down the line.
I'll first probably want to add a counter that indicates how many differences are still to be found, and to show an animation and/or sound when all have been found. :)

(As well as a loader for different source images, which I also need to find and/or create. ;))

But for an evening's #coding in between family things, I'm satisfied with the result. :)
(And little #BeardGrabber was already pointing at the differences while building it).

Quickly tried some different #streaming settings in #OBS so I can run #Insurmountable at a higher quality setting.
Seems to be working fine, so hopefully we can enjoy more details during the next #FiXatoStreams. :)

While I had the game open, I finished the second expedition. Not sure if I end up posting the footage, but if I do, I guess I should add commentary separately.

#BeardGrabber was sitting on my lap and asking what all the stat bars were for, and as soon as I understood what was what, he was commenting on my every move what resources (oxygen, body temperature, energy, sanity) I was gaining, and which ones were decreasing.

I really should've put a few cable ties or something through the whole of that key before letting #BeardGrabber play with this #padlock. 🤦‍♂️😅😖

(It's also why I prefer #locks that need the key to be inserted to actually lock them...)

Tried cutting a copy out of a tin can, but all I got out of that was a small cut. The metal probably was not thick and sturdy enough, or it might also have needed the raised edge on the side. Guess I could look up #lockpicking instructions for a #MasterLock no.130.

Fortunately I should still have some other locks in a storage box, and am not in urgent need for one. :) Might find a spare key too, if I look for it; else I can always cut or file through the key. :)

It really upset the little one for a shirt while :(
He likes most animal sounds I do, also while doing #WhereIsMyCow, but earlier I had to tone down my #donkey and even my #goat sounds too.
I guess they sound too much like screaming/crying?

At least he's happily babbling again :)
