If you're into electronics and home recording, recording in general, or making, I've got a ton of projects I've built over the last 3 or 4 years all documented to varying degrees up here with hashtags.
Here they are. Good luck.

Lots of my preamps were used on yesterday's session. Here's a few hard at work.
Here's some hashtags pointing to the build threads of various pieces of gear used in last night's session.

@alisynthesis Some are very well documented, some aren't. And some are new projects I've barely begun but created hashtags for:

@TerrorBite I've got a bunch of other projects I've built in the last year also:
-
Ordered some 99.5% alcohol to clean flux off of circuit boards.
-
To any and all who follow me for my builds. Right now there 3 active hashtags here with my builds:
-
@bgardner My most recent projects are at these hashtags:
and soon I will start the #1176Build

@TheGibson @lindsays @Rob_T_Firefly TheGibson has seen this, but for those who haven't, here is a recent mic build I did.

Got the shock mounts in today for the U87s, and I've cut the foam for them in their cases. Just waiting on some custom drawstring bags for them, and I'll be read to rock.
-
OK. Shock mounts arrived for the 87s and these fit perfectly. Now I can actually record with these.
-
OK, this should be the final mod to the U87s unless something really out-of-the-ordinary is necessary. My friend Dave cut me some capsule-mount shims with this Star Trek Replicator device out of some nice 1/8th in acrylic stock. I needed a 1/4 inches, so I CA glued two together, and shimmed up the capsules so they're at the appropriate height, now. My goal was to do this with as little disassembly as possibly, and all went well. Shims, before, and after.

Thinking about getting the big Panavise soldering station since I'm working with bigger boards now. Just need the cash. #D87Build #1176Build

Now it looks like I have some shock mounts coming from England from the same place I got the bodies. Hopefully these are nice. #D87Build

@gedvondur The local antique shops know vintage iron is in demand and price accordingly. I'm looking for more good deals.
I used the self cleaning oven method. Worked great.
The whole mic build thread can be seen if you search on the hashtag #D87Build .

So the shock mounts I ordered for the U87 clones came today, but didn't really fit the mics. So I had to send them back. #D87Build

OMG. A friend recently told me about these soldering lessons on youtube, produced around 1980, and they're brilliant. Easily the best soldering course I have ever seen. Sure, some things have changed since then, but this info and these techniques are still the way to do it.

I guess these projects are never done. A friend with a laser cutter made me some custom capsule mount shims, because as is I think the capsules sit about 1/4 inch below where they would sit in a real U87. So I glued two of these together. I'll shim these up at some point this week. #D87Build

So... I *THOUGHT* I ordered some shock mounts for the 87s last week. I was hoping to get them by today. No joy. I reached out to the guy who stocks and sells them and he said he was customizing mine to my mics (I sent him dimensions). Pretty cool, but a heads up would have been nice! #D87Build

Shock mounts ordered for the U87 clones. Soon I'll be able to cut foam in the road cases I bought, and they'll be good to go.
Next up, BTW, is a Urei 1176 (Rev D) clone!
-
Oooh. So a talented craftsman friend of mine is going to make me some custom drawstring bags for a few of my mics, including the 87 clones. Can't wait to see them! I'll post pics when I get them. It could be a while. He's not known for his... speed. ;-)
-
Just made the template to cut the foam for the mics. Won't actually cut it til the shock mounts get here and I can do a nice layout steeped in Feng shui. #D87Build
-
Road cases acquired. Achievement unlocked. On sale! #D87Build
-
I went to Harbor Freight to check out their Apache cases. Looks like the 3800 will do the trick. Good price. On sale even. But I hate cubed foam. Guess I'll have to live with it. #D87Build

OK, the U87 clone build is almost complete. The capsule issue I was having is resolved, and it ended up being some sort of fluke. I got it back in the mail, today, and installed it, and it works fine. That mic seemed a little quieter (maybe 2 dB) but that's not uncommon in U87 style mics due to inconsistencies in the FETs. Because OCD I swapped out the FET with another and got lucky. Sounds the same to me now. Next pic will be a glamour shot with shock mounts and road cases!
