Vom 28. bis 30. April 2026 fand in Mailand, Italien 🇮🇹, die Konferenz „Bilingualism Matters“ statt. Der 1. Konferenztag stand unter dem Motto „Bilingualer Bimodalismus“, sodass alle Beiträge einen Fokus auf Gebärdensprachen hatten. Das IDGS (GW) und das Deafness, Language and Learning Lab (D2L, EW) waren durch Anne, Janika, Iris und Barbara vertreten. In einer bimodal bilingualen Präsentation (International Sign und Englisch) haben Janika und Anne Forschungsergebnisse aus einem gemeinsamen Projekt des IDGS und D2L vorgestellt. 👩‍🏫 🔎 Außerdem haben Barbara und Anne in einem Poster ihre gemeinsame Arbeit mit der Europa-Universität Flensburg zur Sprachentwicklung von Tauben Kindern mit Fluchterfahrungen vorgestellt. Es war spannend, die unterschiedlichen Perspektiven auf Gebärdensprachforschung zu sehen.

I feel like I should have an emoji dedicated *just* to cursing #D2L.

Summer project is a website for all my courses and that can't come fast enough.

My complaints about #D2L are endless and border on the existential.

The number of clicks that is required to accomplish simple tasks is simply maddening.

To those who still fear that the end for the open side of #H5P is near, because #D2L acquired #H5P Group: They are now looking for a community manager (https://www.finn.no/job/management/ad.html?finnkode=380176779). Among the responsibilities: "Participate in the H5P management team to represent the community's interests, ensuring their voices are heard and that key management decisions are effectively communicated back to the community."

Lots of interactive online learning activities have nifty visual displays of student progress (ALEKS, et al).... is there a way to generate something like that in D2L or Moodle? I remember figuring out the code a million years ago in HTML / Javascript but if there's something already there

@locnar We're all trying to figure out if #Moodle and #D2L and other #LMS systems just suddenly became illegal for US #HigherEd over night.

"The Department of Education did not answer specific questions about its stance on existing partnerships with non-domestic companies, or how soon a college would need to update its contracts that don’t meet all of the outlined requirements for compliance."

Changing an LMS or SIS very much isn't trivial.
