@tschfflr I will not be able to fully celebrate #WorldEmojiDay until Unicode sees the light and adds a #cymbal emoji. I love emojis, but this will be a bittersweet day until Unicode rights the wrongs they committed when they rejected not one but two applications for the addition of a cymbal emoji. ✊ (I will get some good use out of the left- and rightward pointing thumbs, though).

They don’t tell you why, which is frustrating

And the declined proposals aren’t public, so you can’t see who did them or how to improve them

Which is unfortunate for folks who might want to work together to reapply

Another year, another #emoji release without a #cymbal. We’ll have two butterflies to choose from, a meteor AND a comet to ensure that the two aren’t conflated, but #Unicode 18.0 is still not rimshot-complete. We can start it off with the snare drum 🥁 but there will be no punchline to this setup. Are we, in the year 2026, to finish our emoji rimshots with a bell?? 🛎️

Last Friday, I released my first single "Ravens"! The artwork is using a technique I've been exploring, putting different types of ink on a cymbal and then pressing paper on it. Different types of ink give different types of results.
Expect to see more of it as I'm digging into using more of this cymbal and more of ink and paint for the a new video in the works!

This cymbal is the first (and only one, so far) that I broke while playing. I bought exactly the same one for my cymbals set, and hang this one on one of my walls at home. Well, now I'm putting it to use again!

My new ride arrived just in time for this #CymbalSaturday . This Meinl Byzance Traditional Medium Ride 20" is awesome. I don't understand, why I played all those dull entry level rides for so long. It gives totally different feel to the whole kit. I love the tone, there is no thundering and annoying wash build up like it was with the MCS which I've had before and the ping is just beautiful. And it is sooo crashable! It just wants you to hit it from all angles!

@utkanos those Signature Fulls are killer! I tend to go for more jazzy tones, so my crashes tend to the vintage hand hammering and partial lathing in medium thin weight. My faves are an #Agop Fusion 18, a #Paiste Dark Energy 20, and a #Cymbal & Gong Mersey Beat 20.
