  1. #CycloneRemal is nowhere close to the near-apocalyptic terror that was #CycloneAmphan back in 2020, but it's still a tough one. Incessant rain and whiplash winds since last night. Where I live, many complain about the city not getting enough rain, but not right now. It's dark as dusk outside right now, and darkening further by the minute.

  2. And those comparing #CycloneNisarga with #CycloneAmphan... it is called the TRP privilege of Mumbai.

We probably won't get as many damaged trees as West Bengal got destroyed homes.

Though we got double the fear and prayers...

  3. Random WhatsApp panic. Millions were evacuated before #CycloneAmphan. We are hardly evacuating anyone.

Prabhuji, Amphan was a category 5 cyclone. Nisarga is 1 or so. It like barely qualifies and will have wind speeds half of what Amphan had.

Damage/risk will be much, much less.

  4. People comparing #CycloneNisarga with #CycloneAmphan, fearing 170kmph gusts and what not... stop spreading panic for thrill.

Amphan was a super-cyclone in a severe cyclone prone pattern. Nisarga is a one time pattern breaker that struggled to form. Wind speeds 100-110 predicted.

#CycloneAmphan thread.. Have been following this great website (earth.nullschool.net/) to look at the live trajectory of the cyclone. It seems it will pass over #Sagar island and then #Namkhana.. we still have to wait to see which way it goes after that. #Bengal

Super cyclones created in bay of bengal usually are common every 5 to 10 years.

But, last year cyclone 'Fani' was a very powerful storm,
and this year we got another in the name of 'Amphan', and guess what, it's worse.
