Fall Tour (Frankfurt-Valence): The end! All together 1037 km in 20 stages (average: 52 km)
We now take the TGV #train towards home.Magnificent scenery, great encounters, safe routing with @bikerouter ,no flat tires (Schwalbe Marathon Plus), pleasant cycling paths, and mostly splendid #weather :we’re grateful for all of this, and eagerly looking forward to our winter tour.

Not my usual kind of wildlife post, as most of my subjects are much smaller and, umm, alive 😬
Bit surprised to come across this dead coypu (aka nutria; Myocaster coypus) out on a 52km ride this evening, on the verge of the road between Hirschhorn & Eberbach, beside the Neckar river.
Originally from South America, but introduced to continental Europe by fur farmers & widespread here now.
Not such a big one – “only” about 40cm long, excluding the tail 😳

Replaced the pads of my front brake and wondered why I couldn't get a nice bite while breaking them in. Turned out I replaced them with already used, and almost worn, pads 🤦🏼♂️
So tomorrow I can do the whole breaking in game again... 🙄

Another outing with my wife today, with a mid-ride stop for nourishment: this time a full early dinner at a Greek restaurant next to a Kleingartenkolonie (posh allotments) in Plankstadt 😱
And does it really count as an e-bike ride if the motor is switched off until the final 2km out of 36km, up our steep valley? I know the answer is “yes”, but … 🤷♂️🧐🙂

A decade ago, I promised myself I wouldn’t get an e-bike until I was 70 👴
But that was when I was living in the flatlands of NL. Here in SW DE, it’s much hillier, including a nasty 2km final climb to our house that I’ve never been able to ride in one go 😭
So, five years early, I’ve succumbed: bought a Canyon Endurace ONfly CF6 e-road bike in Koblenz this week 🤷♂️
First ride today: 45km to Ladenburg & back, plus all the way up to home 🙂👍

Oh, & there was the ESTEC Open Day yesterday which passed in such a rush, as I was moderating three sessions on the Space Rocks Uplink stage, that I didn’t even take any pictures.

Another nice 46km morning ride around my old haunts of the Haarlemmermeer Polder & back down the Leidsevaart, including past the Hogeveensemolen.
Wish I had time for longer ones, but there’s still work to be done preparing for my sessions at tomorrow’s ESTEC Open Day 🤷♂️

Quase nos 3000 Km pedalados.
E a corrente continua firme e forte com 4500 Km. Realmente manter com cera dá um grande melhorada na durabilidade.

Several ferries don't work for weeks now because the water level is too low, which forced us to make detours.Tomorrow: #museum day

A most unusual cycle ride today 🧐
Not the route – that was a very standard 55km to Heppenheim & back.
But rather that my wife came with me, on her new e-bike – we were a decent match & I only had to ride *a bit* slower than normal 🤪, but it also meant we had to stop for Kaffee und Kuchen in Ladenburg halfway round.
Which wasn’t a bad thing 🤷♂️🙂
I suspect we’ll be doing more of this together 👍

I initially thought that Clik Valve™'s were a bit of a fad, but now that I'm actually using them I think they’re great. So much easier to use, and sturdy, than Presta valves 🥰
