London’s #Cycleway network has reached 450 km following recent route expansions, making it five times larger than in 2016. The infrastructure now exceeds the total length of the Underground network. #Transport for #London (TfL) and local boroughs delivered the milestone through new developments in Islington, Camden, Wandsworth, Kingston, Westminster, and across Lambeth Bridge.

The expansion coincides with a 43 per cent increase in daily #cycling journeys since 2016, reaching an estimated 1.5 million in 2025. The network improvements aim to reduce traffic congestion, lower air pollution, and support Vision Zero targets to eliminate fatal and serious road collisions.

Further projects remain under construction, including new routes in Harrow and Westminster. TfL's Cycling Action Plan 2 continues to focus on broadening network access across diverse demographics, supported by initiatives such as beginner-friendly Sunday leisure routes.

London's #Cycleway network has grown, but it's still a postcode lottery: places like East Ham & Plaistow marooned from the network; long term closures (e.g. the #NewhamGreenway); and continuing inaction on dangerous junctions. There's lots done, but so much more to do, which needs to happen faster.

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release:
#TfL has confirmed that its bus stop bypass safety review was withdrawn due to data inaccuracies. The review, which covered bus stop bypasses across both the TfL Road Network and the wider London #Cycleway network, relied on a database containing incorrect implementation dates.

TfL stated that it does not hold a specific report detailing the decision to withdraw the initial document, nor has it issued any tenders for a replacement. Instead, internal work is underway to review and correct the underlying database. A revised version of the safety review will be re-issued once this data verification process is complete.

This is the same Road Safety Team that objected to a #cycleway continuing across a junction but approved this as a better solution in #kingsLynn #NorfolkUK - I feel the main reason this hasn't killed anyone yet is that most people ignore it and rejoin the carriageway before the end of the road, or turn left and U turn (the "primary" cycle route continues on-road away from the camera). Or give up cycling this route after one attempt and drive because that's what #NorfolkCountyCouncil expect

Wait up, Dunedin. The Albany St cycleway project which was cancelled last month is miraculously back on track.

The 8-7 vote was made possible when Cr Jim O'Malley, having reflected on things he'd previously said about the project's opponents, re-entered the arena and saved the day.

Voted for: Barker, Benson-Pope, Garey, Gilbert, Laufiso, Mayhem, O'Malley, Walker.

Voted against: Radich, Acklin, Houlahan, Lucas, Vandervis, Weatherall & Whiley.

A newly rebuilt drystone walled section of road; Portobello Rd, Dunedin .At a guess 10 km, but a local may correct me. Well done to the stonemasons who dedicated their craft to lay stone ( instead of modern concrete shoring technique that has little character in comparison)
Sections of this harbour drive were widened as well for a cycle/ walkway. Can do a full circle by crossing the harbour on a small ferry and riding the trail to the city and back.
