My mother will never meet this baby. Depending on how hard my father tries to belittle, guilt, insult, cajole, or bribe me, he may not either.
The idea of paraphrasing this quote (Andor season 2) is my husband's, for when I tell my father in my third trimester:
"You want Syril in your life, you will think before you speak...I will guarantee a level of engagement, but it will be inversely proportional to the volume of anxiety you generate in our lives.”

I was raised conservative, religious, Republican. I have not been since teenage years.
I just slipped a $20 into a #BuyNothing pickup for a neighbor family who I know is on SNAP.
I feel dirty doing it, because I was raised never to give people money. Trying to punt that feeling. It will help this family. It is a good thing to have done. So why do I feel like I've sinned? What a twisted upbringing.
