There’s been a steady 20 km/h #southerly #wind today and so normally I would have been silently cursing as I was peddling south on quite a long stretch of #CyclePath. However the temperature has been in the mid 20s, with some sunny spells and so it felt absolutely delightful as it took much the heat away from my body.

The weather forecast today was a bit gloomy so there was no #assenliggers group ride. But after walking the dogs and shovelling snow outside our home I went out for a short spin anyway, and it was actually really nice.

More parcels of bike parts beginning their journeys to customers.

This time I've taken the photo on a cycle-path heading into a tunnel. If I were driving a car I'd be heading toward that traffic light on the left, but the cycle-path goes through the tunnel so I never have to stop when cycling.

This is a good example of how to give cyclists an advantage and make cycling more efficient than driving.

Though I've lived here for a long time now, I still find it amazing that I can use cycling infrastructure of this quality on a daily basis, that it works so well, enabling so many people to ride bikes, and that it keeps everyone safe.

This morning's dog walk was through snow. There was quite a lot of the white stuff around, but

It still amazes me how efficiently the heat pump extracts heat from obviously cold outdoor air to make our home warm. I mean that both in terms of rapidly heating us up, and in that it does not use much electricity.

Three photos of the new cycle-path. This is rather nice. It's wide, smooth concrete. It's just a shame that at the end it ends a bit abruptly. In time this will link up at both ends properly and cyclists will have a new efficient route over the 30 km distance from Assen to Groningen. It's been taking a while, but more than half of it is complete now.

I could really do with a break from this damp and misty weather. It's not especially cold right now, around freezing point, but it's somehow piercing. A cold that you feel despite a decent jacket.

Anyway, more parcels of bike parts began their journeys to customers with a ride on my bike today. Sadly I've decided to stop accepting orders from the USA until we know what's going on with the wild man and his tariffs. When the UK changed its rules for imports it ended up costing me a lot of money (due to parcels sent early enough that they shouldn't have been affected not being delivered and instead being returned broken many months later) and I don't want to risk repeating that experience with the US.

Parcel deliveries this week. We've had a lot of fog this week. Freezing fog, even, as it's been below zero a lot of the time. Not especially nice weather to be out and about, tbh, but there you are. Anyway, it's safe for me to continue to cycle with my parcels of bicycle parts because the cycle-paths keep the cars away from me.

The cattle grid by the Uni side is flooded (3.30 pm), so pedestrians will get wet feet without waterproof footwear; the sides of the cyclopath after the grid were flooded. These days, however, it is carrying water (i.e. doing its job) most months except in summer. Here is #photograph of the #channel running alongside a segregated #Footpath and #Cyclepath. Incidentally, this is almost exactly where, three months ago, I ran into a dog’s lead as the owners were walking on the footpath and the dog was on the grass verge on the right.

A couple of photos from earlier this week when I went out for an extra ride for exercise. This maintenance vehicle went no faster than 33 km/h, but it was impossible to overtake it safely because there was always someone coming in the opposite direction, or a blind corner, or a junction... So I followed it for a while before it turned off in a different direction.
Luckily, this one is electrically powered so there was no stinky exhaust. If it was one of the older models I'd have found a different route instead of breathing all the fumes.
