@pianotpot I'm a techno fan who doesn't go clubbing LOL ;-) I first heard it on #Detroit radio in the 1980s, I was a Numanoid (still am!) and folks like #Cybotron sounded like they were building on that weird dystopian sci-fi vibe that Gary Numan created. #TechnoTuesday Another #Detroit classic! I was too young to hit the clubs, so my intro to #Techno came from late night radio DJs like #ElecrifyingMojo who had #Cybotron in perpetual rotation. IMHO Juan Atkins and Rick Davis were the rightful heirs of #TubewayArmy, maintaining and building upon the dystopian analog foundation that #GaryNuman had left behind. This is my first #TechnoTuesday toot, so might as well begin at the beginning! Let’s sail the “Methane Sea” (1978) with #Detroit techno pioneer Richard Davis. This track is probably more “abstract ambient” than “techno”, but a few years later Richard would join up with Juan Atkins to form #Cybotron and bring his dystopian psychedelia to the dancefloor.
