Toppers, duffers, can-do-betters - the World Cup report cards are out:
-
Pat Cummins on the future of international one day #cricket: "Maybe because we won, but I did fall in love with ODI [cricket] again this World Cup," he said. "I think the scenario where every game really matters, it does mean a bit different to just a bilateral."
I agree about 'meaningless bilaterals'. Perhaps if they made them mean something by earning points to enter the world cup tournament they would mean more. There would have to be a method of fair competitive for minnows into the world cup too.

Too tired last night to notice where Warner was sitting as the match wound down. But this is excellent behaviour. #CWC23

Congratulations, #Australia on winning yet another #ICC trophy.
#TeamIndia faltered on so many fronts, and I am SO frustrated that I don't feel like listing anything now. In time, once I feel better and come out of the depressing feeling, maybe I will write up something... but, for now... it just SUCKS!!!

@TheVoidTLMB @mtearle At first I was like what's all this Rahulla Bulla about and then it Rohit me Bumrah that we're in Kuldeep trouble.
Did I do that right? 🧐

Well done Australia on winning the #CWC23 tonight! Travis Head amazing, somehow always turns it on for the big matches. Looking forward to watching the replay of our batting innings today and see how we silenced the crowd of >100k people who were - like me - expecting a different result.

Well done to Australia. They turned up on the day and completely bossed it.
India just weren’t good enough when it counted.

This is the strongest #IND cricket team there has ever been in my living memory. They dominated the World Cup.
And yet, even a month down the line, *no one* is going to remember what a dominating team they were throughout the tournament.
They had the chance to become legends, and they didn't even put up a decent fight. "Not with a bang but a whimper"

Australia are now the holders of the Men's World Test Championship, both the Men's and Women's ODI World Cups, and the Women's T20 World Cup (not to mention Women's Commonwealth gold).

Australia have now won 13 of 25 ODI World Cups, and been runners up in four more.
Since the inception of international cricket over a century ago, it's been rare for Australia not to be among the 2 or 3 best teams across men's or women's formats.
One of the most remarkable ongoing legacies in sport.

Jonathan Agnew is so into sensationalizing every ball that he is a perfect fit for any cricket involving cheering squads. 😉

#cwc23 is the first time since 2007 that a host country has not won the #cricket world cup, reverting to an earlier trend bucked only in 1996 by Sri Lanka (technically).
well done #australia, well deserved.
now, when’s the next test match that isn’t tainted by #bazball?

Australia beat India by 6 wickets to win the Cricket World Cup. They deserved it.
Fab innings from Labuschagne to steady the ship after three wickets fell quickly.
