@pavel Great. I expect that in the longer term it should switch to full range scan and sharpness computation only for really large change in statistical parameters. It should try to run some feedback loop to track focus instantaneously with some estimation whether changes are noise only and when change in statistic represent already high probability that sharpness changes. Could be really nice task for some of our #cvut #cvutfel control theory oriented students with combined computer vision knowledge. I am open to supervise such project, bachelor and or master theses.

#CVUTFEL ( #CVUT FEE) Advanced Computer Architecture ( #comparch) course recodings of the first five lectures are published at #VHSky.cz. Czech language recordings from the 2021 round are available as well. The B4M35PAP course builds on the knowledge from the introductory #comparch B35APO course (recordings). Each student builds their own CPU design (tools and ISA are open). The #QtRvSim #RISCV educational simulator is provided for inspiration (online version and The Czech Technical University #comparch related courses guidepost https://comparch.edu.cvut.cz/).
P.S.: Help with tooling for transcribing the lectures in my Czenglish dialect into English subtitles would be appreciated, as well as all other forms of feedback. For the introductory course, we provide reusable LaTeX sources (CC-BY-SA license) that are open to pull requests.

OTREES #cvut booth at #LinuxDays 2025 presenting our CAN/CAN FD projects for #Linux, #NuttX, #FPGA and #RTEMS. SaMoCon motion control platform driven by pysimCoder rapid prototyping solution for #NuttX with online monitoring and parameters tuning and update uploads through silicon-heaven and NXboot integrated in the frame of Štěpán Pressl’s #GSoC 2025 (will be presented in detail on NuttX Workshop October 16 and 17). More on the booth: #Espressif based kits running NuttX (ICE-V Wireless, see our PMSM project, #ESP32C6 with M-bot platform), AMD/Xilinx Zynq MZ_APO running Linux and #RTEMS, PolarFire SoC, Milk-V Pioneer 64 core 64-bit #RISCV system running #QtRvSim (for CompArch education), #CHROMuLAN data acquisition over uLAN driver, LX_RoCoN system used for ESA projects and lot more to see at our booth.

#NuttX Support for IEEE 802.3-2022 10BASE-T1S/L #Ethernet using Open Aliance SPI MAC-PHYs implemented by Michal Matias from #CVUT in frame of #GSoC2025 has been fully merged into NuttX mainline. The common part resides at drivers/net/oa_tc6. #ESP32C6 mapping and mapping for SAVM71-Xplained Ultra are good examples for straightforward extension to other MCU and board NuttX SPI interfaces. The accompanying plcatool for Physical Layer Collision Avoidance parameters configuration matching OA-TC14 specification is another contribution.

@ljs Congratulation to the book publication. I hope to find some time one day and look at it myself or at least, will be able to make it available to my students with help of the #cvut library.
I have plea for you and @vbabka , I prepare for the next round of the Advanced Computer Architectures course. It is focused mainly to basic knowledge about progress from pipelined execution (basic course) to the super-scalar one in nineties to understand even later designs including GPUs, NUMA, etc. But I include even some amateur glimpse how is memory used in real system which is based on my already dated wander through Linux kernel sources. I would be very happy if you find time to look at the diagram on the slide 114 of the Lecture 6 and provide me feedback if there is something which is not true or have been changed considerably so I should correct it to not mislead my students. There are some more slides around where your expert feedback can save students from misleading information as well.

@leonerd @oshpark @benhencke Nice option with display and local control. But if you want really cheap scopes, function generators, counters etc. then the #cvut team from another department provides firmware for cheap STM32, PICO and even Arduino (sic, some people are not willing to move forward and colleagues support them too) boards based Software Defined Instruments. For the PC side, see DataPlotter (github , with Nucleo F303RE 5 Ms/s 12 bit, STM32L412KB 2x 5 Ms/s, with Arduino 15 kS/s, with Raspberry PICO 1x 500 KS/s or 2x 250 kS/s) and older zero_elabviewer for even more boards. All firmware is available for download and documented in theses (unfortunately usually in Czech language, but colleagues or me can help).

Adding to the list of all the services having EU alternatives, new EU DNS resolver just popped up.
DNS4EU promises fast and private DNS resolution for EU citizens, meant as an alternative to countless non-european DNS resolving entities, and is an official project of EU with CZ.NIC and #cvut as partners.

@adamhavelka Z #ČVUT u nás publikuje @ppisa ..
Jestli máte někdo kontakt, klidně to zkusim, není problém.
Abych to shrnul moje pokusy:
- FITFAB - Děkujeme, ale sponzoři se dívaj na lajky na YT, takže ne
- Jakub Jahl - Rozpojila se YT synchronizace a už to nejde opravit
- #Člověkvtísni - Myšlenka se mi líbí, poradíme se .. <dlouhá odmlka>
- #MilionChvilek - V podobě, v jaké jsem záznamy zaslala (pouze odkaz na FB post s videeem) videa můžete šířit

Thanks for notice, I think that this and The Microsoft-Dilemma - Europe as a Software Colony should be mandatory to study for #cvut and may it be even #cesnet IT captains. Exactly questions to resiliency to the temporal Internet connection lost and even possibility of hostilities after steering to total dependance on MS technologies have been part of my request for some analysis in the official CTU IT issues trackers. But all tickets have been closed by Mgr. Stanislav Kalina (Microsoft Technical Specialist in the Czech Technical University in Prague organization) as totally unfounded nonsense and FUD spread.

Ahoj přátelé! 👋
I přes trochu méně ideální termín se nás sešlo kolem 25, a během příjemné, neformální diskuze jsme probrali širokou škálu zajímavých témat.
🚀😊#sraz #meetup #livestreaming #SiliconHill #ČVUT #AVCSH #Blackmagicdesign #BMD #tux

@eunews Anyway, Patriot Act and other directives mentioned in the Register article by Frank Karlitschek, CEO of Nextcloud "The Cloud Act grants US authorities access to cloud data hosted by US companies. It does not matter if that data is located in the US, Europe, or anywhere else." do not make me feel good about actual #cvut move to full dependance into Azure/Entra ID entity management dependance and gaining our personal and servers data. -
Ještě jednou děkujeme

The B35APO Computer Architectures course based on #riscv and our #qtrvsim simulator reached new (re)usability level, updated slides in the LaTeX Beamer format for lecture 1 to 10 are translated to English, PDF, CC-BY-SA Slide Sources at #cvut FEE GitLab and on GitHub. The feedback, corrections, suggestion, reuse and cooperation are welcomed. The lectures recording are available on community driven PeerTube server https://vhsky.cz/w/p/8Ejstt3Tfh8mWGcjQcEL2S and CTU FEE B35APO YouTube List. The online site with links to more related courses and on-line QtRvSim WASM application https://comparch.edu.cvut.cz/ allows even online evaluation of simple #riscv assembly and C exercises.

@M4RSarK Have CTU #cvut IT experts considered alternatives to moving to Microsoft Entra ID next week? As I understand, MS Azure would be the authoritative source of all our university identities, and there (hopefully) will be some slave copy of Active Directory on our university servers. Unfortunately, my official ticket has been closed with the statement that information about the security system solution and contracts with Microsoft are confidential. Experts have taught me in the past that each system based on security through obscurity is only a temporal solution and usually indicates a bad design. Have you consulted #cesnet, RedHat, SUSE, CZ.nic? It seems, according to #lwn article Lessons from open source in the Mexican government, that Mexico is more aware of the potential risk to depend on the systems controlled by other country (one not-so-old example). I am not expert for security and it is not interesting area for me, I have already quite large portfolio, but I am so frightened that I would ask people form RedHat, SUSE, CZ.nic to start to gain some basic knowledge in the field to know what are the alternatives. If somebody reads this and have experience with alternatives for authentication system for organization with 20k+ personal accounts and lot of roles (I do not know the number, again classified as confidential, even that do not know any reason), then I would be happy for reply.

@M4RSarK Excuse me, but you are at charge at FEE CTU IT ( #cvut ), so why is the only public way (with tracked history) to communicate with our faculty senate over Discord and it is advertised at senate candidates debates, why we will be most likely forced to switch to Microsoft two-factor authentication, e-mail etc. I know that these things are not so simple, but at COVID outbreak, one our admins (Daniel Vecerka) set up BigBlueButton instance on our servers in less that two weeks and final integration with courses schedules from study system database, recording, recording processing etc. is far more advanced then what I have seen in Teams which are pushed to us for communication by top management. Same for the PR department which feeds Twitter/X, YouTube etc. I know that it is hard, but we should have FEDIVERSE at social.cvut.cz, we should have Discourse etc… I use for my projects and subjects Debian/GNU/Linux for decades for decades and no closed tool at all. I contribute to whole world to have alternative for computer architectures teaching on open architecture (RISC-V) with open tools https://comparch.edu.cvut.cz/ and with open lectures sources. My groups of students contributes to open system for control systems and theory education and may be even devices design (pysimCoder), yes it is toy still, but used worldwide and gaining momentum. But at our department it is downplayed and I can expect that in some time there would be no lab with computers and enough Ethernet connections for embedded targets to run the environment directly. I have been forbidden to participate in the discussion about the future of K2, other labs, rooms where I work with my students. So I suggest even to you to approach downstairs from the clouds and global world dreams and solutions and solve manageable problems at reachable level. Discuss with CTU FEE PR, that we should start to have alternative to AI and mighty controlled channels, we should teach students basis which allows them to setup own systems, build own space grade controller (our RTEMS BSP is used by Airbus Defense and Space USA, my former diploma students contributes to ESA CPU desig, so the claim is exaggerated only a little) etc. OpenAlt has moved to local PeerTube instance vhsky.cz. Why am I forced to register and even pay to can check my own lectures on YouTube without advertisements when there is #cesnet which is paid from public money to provide support to Czech universities… and I can continue.
