  1. I am sorry to learn that long time #Cville public servant Alex Ikefuna is no longer employed by the City. He was a vital part of finally getting the Comprehensive Plan and the entire #CvillePlansTogether framework back on track when many other public priorities fell apart over some difficult years. I am grateful for his hard work over the years and wish him more successes in the future.

  2. I am proud to share that "HB2153 Comprehensive plan; housing development by nonprofit organizations.", partly inspired by the successful #CvillePlansTogether process has passed both chambers of the #VALeg and is awaiting signature by Governor Youngkin lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/ #Virginia #housing #zoning #YIGBY

  3. Two interesting #housing talks from the #Maryland Department of Planning were recently posted. The first has Christy Dodson, Jennifer Koch, and James Freas talking about #cville #zoning and the #cvilleplanstogether process to bring #equity into land use regulations youtu.be/qJnpikE9lkc

  4. Hey, #cvilleplanstogether gets a shoutout in the #zoning textbook I assigned. That's kind of fun.

  5. Thanks to Barbara Brown Wilson for the chance to speak to her class about the #cvilleplanstogether process and the importance of collecting demographic information and disaggregating data to understand and appreciate differing voices and needs and inform more equitable and effective policy and spending #housing #equity #data

  6. Thanks to Jason Armesto for covering the #cvilleplanstogether process and archive.org for archiving this for the future. "We need to prioritize the people most impacted by the area’s affordable housing crisis, so that Charlottesville can be a vibrant city with all kinds of housing for all kinds of people in all kinds of places" web.archive.org/web/2023122014

  7. Very tired. My recollection from the seven or so hour #cville Planning Commission meeting last night is that the two public hearings for I believe 555 new homes total for students near the University of Virginia were both recommended for approval by Council. No progress on the #cvilleplanstogether #zoning work, which I fear is stuck in a quagmire around a new antidisplacement zoning category and map, not yet written, no ETA

  8. Ah, there is this little item at the very end: "1. Charlottesville Development Code and Zoning Map Deliberation (if needed)". If materials from City staff are ready, this may well be a final recommendation from the Planning Commission on the new #cvilleplanstogether #zoning I and many others have worked so hard on for so many years #housing #equity #climate #zoningreform
