I'm glad I upgraded my PC in 2023.
Got a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM from MicroCenter in an in-store deal at the time (their combo deals are insane even today) whereby I was given 32GB of DDR5-6000 DRAM for 1 penny. (Its list price in the store was $149.99.)
I just did a NewEgg search for the same DRAM kit and found it at $933.99.

Too Long Didn't Watch: the open air case performs about as well as an expensive case designed for great airflow.
You should at least pay attention to onboard components that benefit from cooling and maybe have fans mounted to point at those area... but even if you don't, the thermal performance is good.
The end of the video covers the drawbacks of not have a case enclosure. No physical protection and no dust filtering, so you would have to manually blow the dust and other collected material off the components regularly (once a month or so).

I decided to go a little more conservative: 5900x and 64GB of 3600Mhz memory. Half the price and still well over twice the specs of my current build. Finally gonna put that nice cooler I bought to work! This'll be my fourth thermal paste change on this PC. Getting my money's worth out of that x570 board!

Installing Windows for the first time in a decade for my parents.
Never before have I seen such a trash tier operating system. It doesn't even feel like you own you own computer anymore.
- Trying to convince you to create a online Live account to use your computer.
- Shoving junk you don't need down your throat. Pinning it all to the start menu.
- Begging you not to download a better browser, begging you again when you change all the web defaults by hand.
- Begging you to use OneDrive.
- Claiming that OneDrive and an online account is a "security" feature.
- Even the god damn Photo viewer app is full of junk now. And the most recommended alternative online is malware.
- Doing it all again when you run a software update.
AND trying to charge you $249.99 for a HOME license on the app store for the privilege of not owning your own computer.
Long live Linux, you'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands.
